Americans: what would it take for you to emigrate and leave the United States?
A great job opportunity abroad? A transfer within your field? A significant other? Retirement? Winning the lottery? The federal and all state government seats occupied by extreme liberals or extreme conservatives?
Really, what would need to happen in your life?

I'm the kind of person who 'puts down roots.' I wouldn't leave the valley I live in, let alone the nation, without some pretty extreme provocation. A major natural disaster with no hope of reconstruction, being overrun and occupied by a hostile armed force, or people of my background being rounded up and put into concentration camps would probably do it. Anything short of that, probably not. This is where I was born.
A comparable job is all. The USA has went to he ll.
When and if, God forbid, the Liberals gain control...they will destroy all that is good and nothing will be left for the real Americans.That might be reason enough for me to move to a tropical island
I wouldn't take anything, not moving, why leave the great place on earth?

A guy like Bush becoming President and having my life run by the American Christian Taliban.
If we were to take steps toward a socialist/communist society I'd leave. In other words if Hillary gets elected lol.
Although I've always wanted to buy a private island somewhere. If I got one of those I'd live there.
Wouldn't leave this country permanently for any reason. other places in the world are nice to visit, but this is, and always will be, home sweet home!
I'm already retired so it's not that. The US scares me anymore with threats from all over the world. And we are sticking our noses into everyone's business. Someone is gonna get pi... off . I'd probably go to Canada, I can speak their language.
I guess it wont happen the only ones that will leave will be the illegals.
Amnesty and Hillary in the office would really tempt me...
We would go right now, if we had a job and health benefits in place. We'd want Germany (or Austria). We like the pace of life in Europe better.

A significant increase in taxes and socialism. Currently I am not close enough to retirement nor rich enough to consider moving to another country. But I better start thinking about it with the government passing laws against emigration while allowing all the illegal immigrants that can get past the border patrol (then protecting them like they were citizens).
i m going nowhere. If i move out due to the fear of extremist taking over usa i will be tagged as coward
so therefore i will keep fighting for the justice
If for any reason George Bush could be elected again in 2008---that would make me leave---but other then that---NOTHING. this is a great country IN SPITE of all the political BS we put up with. We have more freedoms then people in almost any other country with the exception of Canada and United Kingdom. The only other reason I would leave the USA would be if someone decided there would be ONE NATIONAL RELIGION and we all either had to FOLLOW it or leave. that would take away one of our basic constitutional rights. Now, I wouldn't mind VISITING other countries or maybe having a "summer home" on the French Rivera or something like that---but be it ever so humble, there's NO PLACE LIKE HOME.
All it would take for me would be for someone to say that all Christians are welcome into this Country and we will gladly serve the Lord and glorify him everyday of our life.
I would gladly pack my bags and my family would leave this God forsaken place and we would go.
I wouldn't have to put up with filth on television or in music or porn shops and liquor stores and teens worshipping whores who are celebrities and aspiring to be just like them.
No more talk about gay rights and amnesty and cheap labor and wondering how we are going to pay our bills every month.
I could trust people more and they would be more polite than the ones we currently have to live around who will run you over with their car while your crossing the street and just keep on going.
There wouldn't be corrupted politicians only the Holy Spirit showing us how to live right and what a relief it would be from what we have to endure now.
Unfortunately there isn't anywhere else to go.

If lack of opportunity due to lack of a free enterprise system, inability to enjoy the fruits of my own labor, an elitist social structure, corrupt government, criminal police, tyrannical military and no HOPE were the conditions of my life and the opposite were readily available elsewhere, I may be tempted.

The economy would have to be much worse than it was in the 30s.

it would take my husband.and i did. i moved to denmark. i love it here, way better then the states. i have been open to much more opportunity with the same freedoms, probablymore, then the states. i'm not as stressed, i can do what i want , when i want, say what i want, be anything i want, buy everything i want. its great.
and for those who would leave due to the porn , language, etc.hahaha. its way worse overseas because they don't see it as bad. as a natural part of life. you get way more of that here and no one says a thing. its great. and if u leave cause taxes are higher then that is the wrong thing too. our taxes are highest where i live but you dont even see it. our minimum wage is higher and we still buy whatever we want. what most people dont see is that having higher taxes actually helps the economy and people.
