Is racism evident in USA and GERMANY?

Let me prove why this is a race issue!!…

When I was in Germany there was a class of people very similar to the Mexicans in the USA. Everytime I went to a German restaurant I would see Turks in the kitchen area. Airports janitors and crews…. TURKS.. All the low paying jobs were taken by the turks…. Turks look very similar to Mexicans in that they both have brown skin..

Germans accuse the Turks of being violent and lazy. Turks are highly undesired by German society however TURK FOOD IS AWESOME! Germans love the Turkisk steaks and Gyro’s

WOW!! Very similar to the racist people here in the USA who call for the extermination of the Mexicans while eating a Burrito Supreme from TACO BELL with Nachos on the side!

racists are the same whether they are in Germany or USA!

Answer:
As I am a German I´d like to answer this question. The situation oft the Turks (we have about 5.000.000 of them - all together live 80.000.000 people in Germany) is quite bad.
Most of the Turks came to Germany in the 1960´s as guest-workers. So you might understand, this people were not of the well educated ones. They stayed here, became children, and their children became children again and so on. now, the third and forth generation of Turks live here. Most of them married Turks, the didn´t mix very much with the Germans.

Until now, the most turkish children don´t visit the higher schools or the Universitys. One of their biggest Problem is that they don´t learn the german language good enough from their parents, so that they cannot get high grades in school.

So they get just jobs like you talked about.
sounds like you should send a check to turkish charities

or dont you put your money where your mouth is?
Sorry, EDUCATION IS FREE IN GERMANY and NOT A LOT OF TURKISH PEOPLE TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY.

Are you going to blame us for not obliging them to study ? So that they can have other jobs ?

Maybe you have not seen the ones who are engineers, and there are...

I think you decided to have a vision of a country based on a one week travel
That can't be, racism is illegal in Germany.
yes and it should stop before it is to late, before another war is started over it.
I too lived in Germany, the Turks are bringing their own
problems on themselves, You can keep their food, glad you liked it. I like German Food. Spaten Bier ist Besser !
OK, this is the exact sort of question I have no need to answer.

There are racists in all countries. There are also economic factors in both America and other first world countries that give services that do in fact raise similar issues about mass immigration of poor people. The difference I see is that in Germany, those people are mostly legal but not given a chance, as I understand it (and I freely admit I know little about the situation except what I read.) Something that, interestingly enough, Kennedy's new bill would enact into law here, as well.
the style of food has nothing to do with criminals invading our country! only petty people make this a race issue, instead of what it really is -criminals invading our country, destroying our economy and school systems, stealing identities, dealing drugs and the rising crime rate amongst illegals, the diseases these criminals are bringing in etc. i can get on any web site and find out how to cook any type of food, why do i need an illegal to pass on a disease to me by fixing a burrito?
so turks look like mexicans now? what because they have brown skin? so do light skinned black people look like mexicans too because they have brown skin? why are you assuming every brown skined person looks the same. you seem a bit off to me.
Yes racism is evident in both nations, but I think it is more of a problem in Europe than it is in the USA. I thing that makes it worse in Europe is that the USA had similar problems and later a breakthrough in the 60's where we had the civil rights movement. That movement has yet to occur in Europe but I feel it will happen soon. Not just Turks, but Africans, and Asians have been treated like a second class in Europe and are stuck living in constant poverty. It seems their only chance at having a succuessful life and not living in the constant labor class is become a proffesional footballer (soccer player). But you are right in your assesement racism is still apparent in both countries just to more of an extent in one country than the other.
any country you go to has racism problems. People can be racist because of your religion, ethnicity even what city you come from. Food has nothing to do with this or brown skin
I don't really consider taco bell mexican food, have you eaten it?
As for the color of peoples skin, if the Germans came to the U.S. or any other Euro people for that matter acting the same as the mexicans, I would feel the same and scream for deportation. It has nothing to do with color and everything to do with the peoples actions.
in the US if one is not white then they have a better chance for grants to colleges and a better chance of being hired for any job.
one needs to look at the numbers of any race! per ca pita
jobs verse prison
degrees verse convictions
taxes verse well fare
if the numbers are for the better for those people, then it is racism if not then not
MEXICANS ARE OUR SLAVES! HEIL HITLER!
I would not call it racism as far as Turks taking jobs like that. That is not a good point to judge from that perspective. Often times, Turks maybe the only one that can get a state job cleaning. That has to do with the person running the office . . .. Like for instance in Augsburg, it is very hard to get a street cleaning position if you "ARE NOT" a Turk. It is almost a Turk only job. It is a state job, and the pay is pretty good with the benefits.

Airport cleaning crew maybe a state job . . . State and city jobs pay actually good by german standards.

This is the problem . . .

The germans are working on changing certain things. One, in Augsburg, they shut down all the special italian and turkish "state run" schools. It was not helping the kids learn german nor helping them integrate. It may not be all the germans fault because a lot of certain nationalities do not blend in and often it is their own fault. They create their own little turkeys. When this happens, the children may not be able to get the exposure to the language that they need to speak and write german better. German is not a easy language especially when dealing with the language within the education system. A child with limited german capabilities will most like only finish "Haupt Schule" which means on to vocational school. The job choices are then limited to handworker positions, but many of the handworker positions involved many technical details. For instance, one that is going through changes is the "automechanic" which is now a mechatronic.

I cannot explain in any simple way, but the german school system is quite different in many way when compared to the american school system. By the 4th grade, some kids futures have already been determine. . . . Opportunity is available to everyone, but the educational system is a weed out system which the teachers "seem" to have no problem sending the kid to the next lower (other) school. Many kids may have to take a school over again. Flunking is normal especially in the higher school systems. (Realschule and Gymnasium) You are a dummy or lazy if you flunk Hauptschule.

My oldest son goes to a german university and costs is "less" than a FRACTION of what my friends and family are paying for their kids to study in the USA. The university system is open to have you, but it is not easy and if you qualify. Qualifying is not easy. My second son most likely will have to take a different road. He will most likely not be studying in a german university.

Each State is working with trying to intergrate and better the language skills of the "certain foreign" children. It is not that simple.

Often, for instance in a young turk males position, they need role models. If the role model is not there, they may never get or WANT the chance. In Augsburg, they have now one turkish teacher who is working in the system. It has taken 30 years to get a guy like this. For instance, girls have it easier because many Turkish girls want to work in a doctor's office or in cosmetics (I don't know why.) They have a lot of role models who have done it.

I am not going to even touch the university system. It is not even easy for the germans to get in. To graduate, you can do four years plus and you do not pass the diplomprufung . . . you attend college and that was it. No degree.

Not every state is that lucky to get one "auslander" as a vocational teacher. Not all the systems allow for a foreigner to teach in that position. This may lead into "Beamter Land". A state position where you need to be german to get it. Possibly, a talented Turkish person may have to choose to be a german. I don't know if the decision is hard or not. For many Turks born in Germany, Germany is home.

Getting back to this turkish male instructor, there was a big article on him in the paper this week. Try to bridge the barrier to the old generation the need to speak and write good german. It is not that easy. Remember the school system which is weeding out system works against it. The system does not look at nationality. German schools are not easy especially in Bavaria.

It is quite complicated. There is prejudice, but based on cleaning is not necessarily the best qualifier for class groups.

Mexicans in the USA. No, you cannot compare.

Many "auslanders" foreigners have the choice to take a german citizenship. Many turks have that opportunity, and many choose not to be german. I know a few Turks who have taken the german citizenship. They have good jobs and they are second or third generation german turks. They are proud to be German. I haven't taken the german citizenship, I have the choice and I am going to remain a US American. My kids on the other hand carry several citizenships.

Comparison with the mexicans . . . nah. I lived in San Diego and studied there. I worked in hotels where many cleaning people were mexican. You can say . . . Turks are cleaning, but on the other hand, they may have the contract to clean a building. THAT WILL NOT BE CHEAP! If done, a certain way, they can avoid paying taxes legally which means that family may be taking home some good money. German taxes are HIGH!

Many Turks, as I have said, do not want to be German citizens. Many have big homes in Turkey and their relatives in Turkey sometimes resent their wealth. Wealth is relative. You can buy a beautiful home in Turkey for very little. I had German friend who is a landscaper. I am also among other things. He used to live in India half a year and live in germany half a year. In germany, he lived a the lowest level of human existence, but in india, he rents a villa for nothing with maids. He used to rent it through the year. I have another friend did the same, but in Jamaica. He owned his home in Jamaica. Rents here in Germany. I have Italian friends whose whole family clean schools. One is the head custodian. The reason the family gets the job. They, all, own big new houses in southern italy from the money that they have earned in germany. They live in small rented apartments in Germany.

This poor Turk who you saw may own a house on the Turkish sea coast that you can only dream of.

This hurts Germany.

Germans have come to a point where they are experiencing people who have worked here all their lives and taken their retirement home. It hurts the german economy.

Racism is here and quite alive, but not always based on the job.

If your argument could hold water, then why do germans have a problem with "white" russians. Many russians are quite smart, but some are knuckle heads. Germans have problems with polish people and many of the former east zone people. Many old world germans have problems with the new world germans (coming out of east zone).

One reason for the resentment is that the old germany had to flip the bill . . .

Let's go to learning the language . . . Certain groups get free to almost very little fee to a language school. I do not as a US American. I have to pay more for the language courses, but if I go to the university. I can get two semesters of free language school to study as a foreigner. One reason is probably the Status of Forces Agreement. Let's get to some of the nationalities . . . Polish, Romanian, Russian, Turk, Most every East zone country . . . assuming they have a legal right into germany, also some africans, some exil . . . all get cheap to no payment language school courses. If you are here long enough, the germans will send you to a language or recommend it. Some people just don't want to go. You do not get that in USA.

I would say this on the whole. I am a little qualified. I have two "ausbildungs" behind me. I am quite integrated in the system. I have coached sports, involved in various Vereins (Clubs), and my four kids are integrated in the system at many different levels. I have a handicap child so I have experience with every school system the germans have to offer to kids. I have lived here over 20 years. . Out of the 20 years, I have lived 15 years on the economy with no US military support, and I am not retired. I live and work off the german economy, and have paid for my german lessons.

Racisms . . . . Germany is a way more tolerant than USA. Hands down.
