Should an illegal immigrants child born in America be a citizen?

The answer is No.
The 14th amendment doeas not grant birthright citizenship.
Birthright citizenship is a myth.

Note the key words here: Of parents who are NOT the subjects of any other sovereignty. Illegal aliens ARE the subjects of another sovereignty and therefore, according to the co-author of the 14th amendment, their offspring are NOT
citizens.

Now show me the Supreme Court case that decided that, despite what the authors of the 14th amendment so clearly and succintly stated, anyone born here is automatically a citizen.

Ever since the subject of Congress taking up Birthright Citizenship have we seen the power of ignorance at work through the MSM. It is difficult to find any editorial or wire story that correctly gives the reader an honest and accurate historical account of the Fourteenth Amendment in regards to children born to foreign parents within the United States. Most often the media presents a fabled and inaccurate account of just what the Citizenship Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment means.

Recent story lines go something like this: "Currently the Constitution says that a person born in this country is an American citizen." That's it. No caveats.

The problem with these sort of statements other than being plainly false is that it reinforces a falsehood that has become viewed as a almost certain fact through such false assertions over time. If you don't believe it, look at the number of people that answered this question with "It is the law"

No, the parent should need to be here legally before the child is a citizen. A parent is on a visa or green card and has a kid the kid should be a citizen.
Absolutely not. If a cop enters someones home illegally, any evidence he finds would be deemed inadmissible. If an immigrant enters this country illegally, any children they have should get the boot with them.
NO! because they come across the border and pop out a baby, doesn't make that child a citizen. If they enter legally and have a child then yes. But illegal means they our still under another countries rule of law and have not taken an oath to pledge their allegiance to my country. So their child is also born under another countries Sovereignty.

No, it completely negates the purpose of having legislation in the first place. For instance, the law states that it is a misdemeanor to enter this country without proper documentation but if by chance you should choose to do so and happen to have a baby your child will be a citizen while you will remain a criminal. How crazy is that?

The 14 amendment to the constitution provides "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside." If you are asking whether we ought to change that, I think not. I don't like tampering with the constitution to respond to a small or transient problem.

Unfortunately the law states that they are citizens, but to me that is BS. If the parent is illegal, the child is illegal, to me anyway... Illegals who give birth and then try to apply for federal funds should be deported the minute the arrive. Not everyone of these illegal aliens are the hard working people a lot of you pro-immigration believers think they are. They are smuggling drugs and other illegal paraphanalia into America. Not stuff I would want my kids around...

having kids in order to ensure staying in the country is a cynical and selfish reason. "Anchor Babies" should be denied citizenship for this reason alone and deported home along with their parent(s).
I don't know if they should, but legally, they are. Anyone born on American soil is automatically a citizen.
