I will believe it....when it happens. Like many of the governments statements, it's just WORDS. Nothing actually happens. If all the proposed cuts in benefits and handouts, announced by this government, had actually taken place, we would not be taxed as heavily as we are. Hey Ragga, John Reid is a Scotsman.....not English. Get SOMETHING right!!!
But who says illegal immigrants are entitled to benefits, they are not!!! so how can John Reid deny them benefits when they are not entitled to them anyway. I t is to little to late, something drastic should have been done years ago.
Mass immigration is not wanted here in the UK and the Government had better learn this before the coming recession.

If they are illegally here they have no entitelment to any benefits so in that respect I agree with these actions.
To address the second half of your post; no I do not think it is any form of admission in regard to this or any other previous administration's policies.
As a Brit working overseas (i.e. an economic immegrant) I have to say I am ashamed at the atitude of the UK (both the administration and the population), I have been warmly welcomed and assisted in many ways by the national; & local governments and the local population; very diferent to the attitudes demonstrated by my neighbors back in the UK.
This breakdown in the social fabric of England is a major reason for me leaving.
Excellent policy. Ask yourself what other country in the world will give any help to illegals of any sort.
Once illegal immigrants are here, we have a moral obligation to look after them, you have to remember that most illegal immigrants have come to this country to seek refuge from discrimination or war. I think it's ridiculous that we would let them starve and die just because of a few over-zealous xenophobic members of the public.
This is a classic english politician, with no heart , and full of bigotry to think that he can treat human beings inhumane, but this planet belongs to GOD not man, so he better be careful the words he sprouts out of his mouth...for they will come back to haunt him 100 fold!
If these illegal immigrants were bringing millions of £s then he would not be bellowing like he is.. Does he not know that the best resources that a country has are its people...
Personally I think he would better use his time trying to think up creative ways to use these immigrants to beef up Britain, as a lot of these people are hardworking honest persons being persecuted by unrighteous men such as himself.
