Why do people think it is ok to illegally imigrate to the United States?
Answer:
you make it sound like they dont work in modern day slave conditions trying to make a living.and actually they do pay taxes, if they shop they pay taxes, if they have a place to stay their landlord or themselves are paying property taxes and some of them pay income taxes.
Have you ever asked yourself if you lived in poverty and you couldnt make enough money to come to the states legally you wouldnt try to come here for a better opportunity illegally?
I don't think that people think its OK to come to the US. I think they do it because they think they have no choice and more opportunities here. Why do generalize that all immigrants don't pay taxes and have nine kids... you sound very ignorant. Do you know how much taxes I pay for people that are in jail now and have more than 3 kids- I also pay for their education (most American citizens) while in jail- yet I had difficulties and got denied financial aid when I went to college. Stop complaining about that because its not going to change the problem
I know a lady that is an American citizen (born here) and she 11 kids! working at a k-mart : food stamps, plan 8 and any other possible help she can get and you know what nobody complains- God knows how many US citizens do the same thing - and your complaining about a few (minority) getting help ...
america need cheap labor. they will find ways to keep these criminals here. if they pardon these criminals, they need to do the same to the pedophiles, rapists and other criminals.
George Bush told me personally that it is okay so everyone who doesn't like it should stop whining about what isn't fair. Life isn't fair.
You mean liberal people. They want all these Mexicans to come here, and vote democratic so that the Dems never lose another election. This isn't rocket science.
That's all true.
We are the country that stands to lose the most and we protect our borders the least.
Part of it is the employers. They are selling us out for the price of a head of lettuce. I just believe in fairness and going by the laws of the land. The U.S. is already the greatest nation on earth, and it is a shame people are taking advantage of that. It is also partially the politicians who have their heads stuck in their bu**s and do not reason with common sense any more. Partially, it is the Mexican government because they encourage illegal immigration because they are getting rid of some of their problems. Why can't they go back home and make their own country great? We did it here. I don't want them to take away our national identity.
Because we give them free medical and other benefits that it's citizens do not get. Of course it's not fair but where do you get the idea the government cares about US citizens.
That's what happens when an incompetent government doesn't have the BA11S to re-structure the immigration process.
It is blatantly false that America needs people to do the labor "that Americans won't do". If the truth would be told, I and so many others applied for those jobs, but was refused, even though most of the jobs paid more than I was ever paid. But, hey, though the jobs can easily be filled by Americans, if Americans take the jobs, the corporations have to pay Social Security taxes, Unemployment taxes, etc. By not paying all these taxes, Big Business can pay the illegals higher wages and still save money! (No sick leave, no annual leave, no Social Security or Unemployment taxes, the list goes on.)
No, it is not fair to the working people. It is also so VERY UNFAIR for those who came here according to the rules or whose ancestors came here, paying for all the permits, passage on a ship, etc.
The thing of it is, there are so many people in the world who want a free ride. Like the Welfare Queens in the U.S., people from all over th world want to come here and enjoy our milk and honey, but not contribute to the process.
The heck of it is, they made a mess of THEIR country and want to come here and do the same thing.
Of course, it is already happening; quality of life is down; life spans are down; cost of living is way the heck up; most freedoms we had when I was a kid are no longer existant.
Send them back where they came from!
What is the right way? Unfortunately, our immigration system and economic strength do not work in tandem. We have a huge demand for labor because our economy is so strong, but we have an immigration policy that does not address the labor need. It is impossible to "do it the right way". I am not suggesting that that excuses illegal behavior, but economic incentive is much stronger than 'Laws of Men' (as opposed to Laws of God). The most unfortunate situation in the immigration debate is that very few people are willing to look at the issue with an open mind and try to understand the economic forces that lead to the immigration as well as the benefits that come from immigration.
I agree. This country has laws and when they are broken there are supposed to be penalties. If someone wants to become a U.S. citizen, there are ways to do it legally. I guess some folks are too lazy to follow through. They could at least learn the language. I hate going through McD's and the Spanish speaking employee getting upset because I don't understand Spanish. last I heard this was an English speaking country. Maybe we should just buy Mexico and then they could stay there! Ha! Oh, yeah. When someone enters the country illegally, they are illegal aliens, not immigrants.
Why do you think its OK to illegally invade other countries around the world where they wear sandals and live in huts?
People say they dont have a choice. Thats bullsht!
No one is pushing them out of their country.
mexicans just have a racist attitude that they are entitled to everything in America.
I havent heard of anyone saying its ok to come here illegally.. dont have to YELL about it.. calm down... if you dont like it.. email, call, write your congressman and voice your opinion.. I am totally against illegal immigration, but I will voice my opinion where it may be heard and something done about it.. Not on mytend.com...
This is the biggest reason why.
Could Mexico retake the southwestern United States?
In Conquest of Aztlan you'll see how:
Former Mexican President Ernesto Zedillo made a de facto declaration of war on the U.S.
The Mexican government helped quash an immigration measure passed by the people of California.
A fifth column of subversives is plotting to recolonize the United States.
Mexican officials prepare citizens to invade the U.S.
Mexican anti-Americanism revealed itself after the Sept. 11 attack.
Immigrants in the U.S. are encouraged to vote in the interests of Mexico.
U.S. policies ultimately are leading to a breakup of the country.

I am against people coming into the US illegally also...but the US does not have a reasonable process for the Mexicans to legally come in in the numbers that are needed, or well, demanded.
But don´t mistake, the problem with the illegal immigrants lies in the US and not in Mexico or with the Mexicans trying to improve their lives.
The problem and the culprit is US industry, Wal-Mart, US farms and almost assuredly someone in your family or living on your block.
The same problem exists in the so called drug war. That problem is called DEMAND.
If you want the drugs and the illegal aliens to stop flooding across the borders...stop employing illegal’s and consuming drugs.
All of us Americans, of all economic levels and all races and religions are so 'cultured' to blame someone else that we never take responsibility when it can possibly be shifted to someone else.
Best Regards.
Their excuse is, "It's a free country!"
Basically the same reason most of them wave their foreign flag and refuse to speak English - It's pure lack of respect and a false sense of entitlement.
A lot of people think it is OK because most people apart from Native Americans in the United States ultimately are descended from illegal immigrants. Many also think of America as the land of opportunity where people can go and succeed if they are willing to work hard enough. The notion of putting up walls or keeping others out goes against the grain of what America stands for to many of them. This is rarely stated but I believe it is really at the heart of why so many people don't want to do anything about it.
There are those, of course, who like illegal immigration for the fact that it can supply workers at much reduced costs to their companies. They being illegal, means I assume that ordinary laws of insurance, minimum wages, etc. may be circumvented somehow, saving them money. These people are the ones who merely wish to exploit and already disadvantaged workforce. Ultimately if these places were investigated and fined, illegal immigrants would have no work in the United States and would slow down some. These companies really need to be forced to sponsor needed worker visas if they actually need these workers. But the fact is, jobs are available, they pay better than in their home countries and most Americans are too lazy to accept crap work, so the illegals take it over. Most illegals who want to come to America cannot do it the legal way because they do not legally qualify.
As for that remark about working for a living, illegals do that as well. That is the main purpose for coming to America in the first place. You could try to get some legislation passed that stipulates that illegals are a fact of American life and that once here they must be registered and pay taxes, but I don't think that would sit well with most of the public. I think this makes the most sense personally because if you actually identified all of the millions of illegal aliens in the U.S. then you would have to pay millions more to deport all of them back out of the country and I don't think anyone wants to face that cost either.
Because they see US as the illegals in this country. If they could have it their way (and someday they will if things don't change) we would all be shipped "back" to Europe "where we belong" ....(according to them)
You're asking the wrong question.
Why don't you ask "Why do some people think it's OK to HIRE illegal imigrants?"
After all, if there were no jobs, they wouldn't come here.
Instead of attacking the most powerless and desperate people, why not go after those who profit from them?
OK, no chance of getting a best answer here, but please read with an open mind what I have to say
People illegally imigrate to the US because since 9/11, the government has closed too many of the legitimate channels by which to immigrate.
The people that immigrate to the US are no differrent than your Ancestors. They desire work, opportunity, and are willing to take jobs that nobody wants.
If the US government had not changed so much since 9/11, these people would have the opportunity to be here legally.
The US Department of Labor published a study recently that said the welfare rates are 11% for immigrants (legal and illegal), and 13% for Natural born US citizens.
The illegal immigrants that work in this country are also paying taxes and Social Security from every paycheck. They will never see an ounce of the social security money.
The same study showed that unemployment rates are lower in cities with large immigrant populations than the national average.
I, like you, don't think it is fair for anyone who works for a living to have to give a dime to people on welfare.
It is unfortunate that you think that the immigrants are the problem.
The bigger problem is the natural-born bums, not the immigrants.
The overwhelming majority of Immigrants come here to work hard. As the Dept of Labor proves, they work more than the Average American. We'd be better off kicking out the natural-born vagabonds who suck money from the working class, and taking in more hard-working Immigrants.
Why are so many Americans today so racist against Immigrants? It frigteningly reflects the ideology of the Klu Klux Klan. Is it the fact that they speak other languages? People shouldn't feel so threatened by that. They should be happy that they are willing to work their butts off the same way that our Immigrant ancestors did.
Our country was built almost entirely by immigrants. Please try to open your eyes for just a minute.
Because 98% of the us population in the us is descendant from illegal immigrants. When Britain colonized, did the ask the indians if it was ok ?? No, they killed, raped and forced a pacific nations to adopt a new religion, and then bring on slaves to build that country. Oh well... it´s been hundreds of years ago: so I guess it should not count... Well then, the declaration of independence should not count either !
Still haven´t changed. The greatness of the united states is still built on the blood and tears of other nations, by its corporate abuse and exploitation of other nations. Who decided it is okay for a US citizen to wear clothes sold by an american company and made by people working 80 hours a week for not even enough to eat themselves... These are the same people coming in that country to live illegally. Personally, I would never live in the usa, to me it is an amusement center to pass by once in a while, but my conscience prohibit me from living in a place where there is no "real" freedom and liberties, where there is 8 times the rate of jail incarcerated then communist China. Why there is so much people trying to get into that horrible country ? Ignorance is the answer, mostly popularized by Hollywood.
OMG, for the apparently "most advanced country on the planet", you still have "MILLIONS" of people waiting for a roof since Katrina ! And that makes you proud of what ?
They think it is okay because their media tells them so. Also, the spanish channels promote NOT learning english, in order for people to miscommunicate and for the hispanics to not know our laws and what needs done in order to come here.
Also, because we have the most lenient immigration laws and the ones we do have are not enforced enough to bother anyone. Until that changes, they will keep coming.
