My partners student visa runs out in Jan 2008 , what options are open to him to remain here ?

He has currently been a student and holding down a part time job .

Answer:
Your Partner may be able to get a student visa extension.

If your partner is no longer in school there may be other options the only way to know for sure is to get in touch with the home office that is nearest to you or at the home office in Croydon.

The rules for "partners" are different then a student visa and there may be other rules that need to be adheared to

My advise is to contact the home office asap so that you both can do what may be needed in order to either get an extension or go another way.

I have provided a link for unmarried and same sex partners - the phone number and address is on the page - I would recommend calling the number they will be able to help you faster as writing and waiting for someone to answer a letter could take a considerable amount of time.
Call Immigration and ask.
Why should he stay. He probably should return home.
Im sure if hes here legally he probally could get an extention since hes still attending school?
Get on to the immigration before it runs out, maybe he could get an unskilled work visa. But also let them know he's in a long term committed relationship.
Get married and adjust his status,,?
By partner, I am assuming it is a homosexual relationship. Since marriage is not an option, he can either continue his studies and extend his student visa. Or return to his home country and re-enter on a tourist visa, which will also only be for a limited time. Another option would be for him to try to adjust status by having an employer sponsor him and file an I-140 and the an I-485 on his behalf. Of course, these options may vary based on circumstances. Good luck
Here are his options:
1. Enroll for another program to get another I-20 and stay in student status,
2. Find an employer who will sponsor him for a temporary employment visa (H visa),
3. Bona fide marriage to a US citizen.
Well as he has finished his course and got a degree. He should return to his home country. Put the training to good use and help his people.
Your partner have got to speak with qualified barrister!
Get married or civil partnership, u must get a certificate of marriage approval from home office. (CEO form).
Go to his country n marry then apply for spouse visa.
Pay for a new student visa.
If you get CEO, prepare to fight for it, they take forever.
After you can get FLR(M) for two yrs then after 2 yrs can pay for settled status.
Same sex relationships are now allowed.

Good luck
