Why does Bush want amnesty so bad?
So things aren't getting resolved because they are risking losing future voters.
If amnesty were to happen then we need discrimination laws to be changed because I sure do see managers that don't have a single black or white person working for them but can get away with it because technically he has an all minority staff.
This will actually be a big boohoo for companies if amnesty occurs because they can no longer pay them cheap wages and can't just treat them like disposable workers. On the other hand what is going to happen is that those granted amnesty will then have to compete with the new illegal immigrants that enter. Documents will be shown to employers not to prove you are citizen but as a way to see who is illegal so they can still get cheap labor.

Amnesty for illegal people is all about money,they are a force to reckon with financially speaking, their buying power is tremendous,don't believe it when the ignoramouses talk about how much the illegals take from americans by way of welfare,taxes etc.The reason illegals will eventually be granted amnesty is because realistically this country can not do without them,no matter how much the bigots may rant and rave.
I don't see how your argument supports the thesis that "bush wants amnesty bad". Your whole point of view is full of speculation and not really based in fact. Have you ever seen any indication that Bush would ever do anything to harm corporations? I sure as hell haven't.
Bush wants amnesty because an influx of new cheap labor (even at minimum wage rates) will wind up keeping wages low for all workers. Amnesty will not stop further illegal immigration, but will matriculate a whole flood of low cost legal workers into the work force. So on one hand you keep legal wages down and you still have a fresh wave of illegals coming in for the jobs the amnestied workers vacated. It's a two pronged approach used by Reagan in 1986 and it's worked: Federal Minimum Wage is still at around 5 bucks an hour. Not that much more than the $4.25 you'd earn twenty years ago.
Contrary to your argument, this is win-win situation for all companies. Not a exactly the "big booohooo" you were describing.

I like your question, you made a lot of good points. I think that Mexicans have traditionally voted Democrat, that's why Democrats want amnesty so much. Even though Bush, Giuliani, and McCain are very pro-amnesty, Republicans are still viewed as the party of rich gringos by Mexican voters.
You are also right that after amnesty all the current illegals will stop being cheap labor. And I am sure they won't do "the jobs Americans won't do", they will become Americans themselves. So all these people who talk about how vital the illegals are for the American economy and how we need to reward them with citizenship, don't make any sense. The 12 million providers of cheap labor will turn into 12 million welfare recipients. This will be a real catastrophe for the US economy.
So, why Bush wants it so much? I think he is completely mad. Maybe God told him to do so.
If and when amnesty is granted it will be a race to the bottom for this country. It will cost the the USA tax payer about 8 billion over the next 20 years. It will bankrupt this country.
What I don't understand, why are we going to grant this amnesty that Bush wants, is he not the same guy that lead us into this war that costing this country life and limb, and treasure.

He hopes that a century from now most "Americans" can't speak English. That way, when they go on sites like youtube and see century old speeches of his screwing up every english word, they won't know the difference. Hell, they might even think he's intelligent (hey! look at that fancy language he's talking in! <they'd say it in spanish, obviously>)... sort of like how we today see Latin.
