Anyone done F-1 Interview at embassy?

I have a friend that went to the embassy recently to do his F-1 interview and he was rejected. I know the three criteria and he definitely meets it but they never asked any questions. They asked him only if he was married and a couple other strange questions. What can he do next time? Is it ok to say anything to them like, "I have more to show you that would help prove my intentions to you." or "what is the reason are you rejecting me?" They never gave him any reason except 214(b) and there's no way he could have proved it because they never asked him for anything. Thanks!

It is like lottery. You can question. They behave strangely and ask you all funny questions. If you are keen, you may have to organise some protest through some India-friendly Senators. Or the MEA can do some thing and interact with the embassies, to stream line their procedure.

when my wife and I solicited her immigration visa they didn't ask to see what we brought either... but they gave us the initial approval
