Do you believe that Congress is protecting the USA or selling it to the highest bidder?

This is why each individual has to be reviewed before determining their eligibilty for the privilege of citizenship. You can't just grant everyone legal status just because you don't know where to start because you've neglected the laws of our country for too long.

Answer:
I believe most of them do whatever is necessary to further their political ambitions.
I hope we all "Clean House" on Election Day.
I'd like to see the Minutemen Project grow. President Bush made a fool of himself when referring to them as Vigilantes. I'd bet you most of them WERE some of his constituency.
What could be more Patriotic than taking Border Security upon themselves -as the people who took an oath to do so decided to disregard that responsibility?
The USA has already been sold to the higest bidder (eg: $8,000,000,000,000 national debt).
I pretty much agree with you.
The defeat of the immigration reform bill was a very impressive exercise in the power of the people. I get the impression that congress can't just blithely pass whatever law they want anymore. Thanks to talk radio, and thanks to the internet.
There are a lot of members of Congress that are selling our country to the highest bidder and have been for years, but people keep electing the same idiots year after year and some of them are only there because something sad happened in their family and the people from their state think they owe it to them, problem is the rest of the country pays the price for allowing people to remain in power that have their own best interest at heart not that of the country as a whole. Yes the recent defeat of the Immigration bill does show how powerful the people can be when the stand together; but if some members of Congress have their ways talk radio will be a thing of the past because they inform the people of what is really going on in the country not just what the main stream media wants us to know... Power to all of the people of our great country we need to use our power to keep our country free.
I think it is the congress' job to solve domestic issues and they haven't done that.
Selling it to the highest bidder...they are the ones who can give them kickbacks for just being in congress...only very few have any respect for their positions and could care less what American citizens are having to deal with by their choices.
As for me, anyone that voted for immigration, regardless of the reason will never get my vote!
June 13,2007 Harry Reid made the Democrats position VERY clear when he refered to Illegals as "Undocumented Americans" ..
hahahahahahahahha!!!!!... I love the homegrown terrorist thing is the reform bill passed...
please go outside sometimes and get some sunshine
there are American citizens in Al Quaeda too...it wouldnt only be Mexicans
At this point, selling to the highest bidder seems to be most reflective of what we experience in our federal government. While some still say that lobby money only buys access, it is still a fact that corporations are loath to spend money with no perceivable benefit. Like everyone else who spends money, they expect something in return.
The link you provided on MSN was to an article on an arrest of several individuals in 2006 for planning an attack on the Sears Tower...not sure how that would be legal if the amnesty bill had passed. One point though...nearly all of them were citizens, and it seems that many were born here in the states...so again, not sure how an immigration bill would affect that.
Our immigration policy is really broken, though, and I don't believe bandaid fixes will work. I also don't believe you can just throw open the gates because it's all so confusing.
I notice that we have entire communities that have no plan to actually assimulate into our society, and that's what bothers me the most. Seattle just announced a new news channel in the area that will have all Spanish newscasts. Used to be, the people that came here wanted to live here and be here.I think that in many (certainly not all), the idea is to come and work and send the money home, and eventually go home themselves. I can't blame them...but it's an immigration nightmare right now.
As a Middle Class American, I bid my heart and soul. May I have my country back now?
I bid the lives of my brothers, my fathers and grandfathers… May I have my country back now?
I bid the constitution and them who have authored it… May I have my country back now?
Am “I” the highest bidder? May I have my country back now?
...or are we no longer a country of “Integrity”?
I think it's already been sold, hope gwb has a happy retirement.
i dont think they are selling it but i think they are not protecting us
The latter. They will usually always sell out to the highest bidding lobbyist in my opinion over taking the people's side.
I would say no..but everyone needs to stop complaining about the government that you elected instead of complaining about it all the time step up and do something about it and start voting for people who will get the job done
We are being protected, we are ok, we are safe from terrorism, don't question our government. We live in a democracy... are you for us or against us? You're not a "terrace," are ya?
The Congress is not protecting the people of the United States if they don't fund the border fence. I'm afraid we are being sold to not the highest bidder but to a bunch of people who put their money together to buy a country being over ran. When you see your elected officials go against the people that put them in office you have a right to complain about them if you know they are doing wrong. You don't have to stand up for this government when they are NOT standing up for the American people and would rather make a bunch of criminals legal with a ZVisa.. BS!
