New legalization bill.?

Have you heard of this bill going through the senate that will grant all illegals a "Z-Visa"? Do you support it or not? I think it is a good idea, b/c by making all the illegals in the US legal, then we can put more focus and manpower into keeping them from crossing the border. How can we solve the problem of illegals if we are trying to fight it on two different battle fields, neither one making any headway. How do you feel about this Bill? Do you like it, dislike it?

Not only I oppose this betrayal to the millions of decent and law abiding american citizens I"M PLANNING to campaign against any politician or elected offcial who vote YES to this amnesty that will favor 15-20 more millions of american haters.

I support it because if something doesn't get done now nothing will be even attempted at least till 2010.

But they also have to organize things more in terms of immigration.
There've been a lot of questions about it for weeks now, yes. I don't support it because the basic premise, that making illegal aliens who have been occupying our country 'legal' will enable us to secure our borders and stop future illegal immigration has been proven false.

In 1986 there was a similar Amnesty deal, it was only given to around 5 million illegals, since there just weren't as many of them at the time, but the premise was the same. Once those 5 million came out of the shadows, it would be a simple matter to secure the border, and deport those few who wouldn't go for the Amnesty. I believed it - it does seem plausible - and since I had free trade/open borders leanings anyway, enthusiastically supported it.

Obviously, with 12+ million illegals in the country today, it didn't work. The current Amnesty bill is not meaningfully different from the last one, and will likely have the same result: a massive /increase/ in illegal immigration for years to come.
