Why is Cuba the only country with special immigration policies?
Answer:
Not that many people want to join a communist dictatorship. They probably do it for the propaganda value.
Same reason they did not want to mess with Oceola the great Chief of the Seminoles when he went into the Florida swamps.
because Cuba and America go way way before Castro...we used to be trade partners of sugar and stuff but then Castro overtook the gov that the US liked and the rest is history...
well they are ruled by a dictator. that is one reason, and he makes the rules as he sees fit, and changes them too... Those people can't do anything about it. That is why the citizens try to flee the country and try for political assylum.
Communism
It is not the only country with special immigration policies.. anyone from another country and claim political asylum
Asylum may be granted to people who are already in the United States and are unable or unwilling to return their home country because of persecution or a well-founded fear of persecution on account of race, religion, nationality, membership in a particular social group, or political opinion. If you are granted asylum, you will be allowed to live and work in the United States. You also will be able to apply for permanent resident status one year after you are granted asylum.
That is not only Cubans, but we do get a lot of Cubans that ask for Political Asylum because of how close we are to them, if Cubans are found in the water they are sent home.. if they reach land and are in the US they can ask for Political Asylum
