Madonna is a washed up attention whore. A whore is a whore because their loyalty can be bought--and Madonna has always "reinvented" herself to get more fame, more attention, more money. She really has none of her own beliefs or principles. She adopted a child from Malawi because it was trendy that week for celebs to adopt kids from Africa (as if there arent kids all over the world including her own country that need adopting!). I wonder how much time she will actually spend with the child, how many nannies does she employ? This talking with a British accent is just to get more attention, she lives in a dream world. She sucks and I hate her. She sold her soul a long time ago.
God is an Englishman hence it is reasonable to assume that Madonna is also English.

Though it must be said, for all of her ridiculousness, Madonna looks like the epitome of taste and class as compared to the current generation of pop starlets.

This is a good question as it reflects the starting point for so much racism. The idea that another person in some way just isn't 'good' enough to be one of us.

If you think about it what is the difference between saying this about Madonna and saying the reverse about an immigrant from say, India. (i.e. that they come to our country and then either don't learn the language or speak it with a heavy accent...or continue wearing their traditional dress). It is just a way to criticize (yes, I know thats a zee :) people. Why do we do that ?
I moved from the UK to the US about 22 years ago.
I found I couldn't be understood when I went to stores or restaurants.
Try asking for cutlery (huh ?) or a serviette ("I think he wants a plate" someone drawled) in a restaurant
or buying a torch in an electrical store...I was told to go a garden centre if I wanted a torch (i.e. a flaming torch).
I couldn't even order a beer in a bar. I just got blank looks until I managed to draw out the "ee" sufficiently.
I had a colleague at work whose name I couldn't remember so I asked someone what his christian name was ... and they said "....err ... err..." (went red in the face) and then stammered "I think he is Jewish".
Anyway my point is live and let live, and watch out for those racist roots.
She´s a wannabe Brit and thinks she has to right to be considered British just because her husband is British. I spent 3 years at uni in the UK and I picked up a lot of English sayings and terms but I NEVER would stoop so low as to copy the accent.
Somebody needs to tell Gwyneth Paltrow that she´s not British either.

I'm an American immigrant to the UK, same as Madonna (we're both married to Brits).
I am now British however because I naturalised. So I'm just as British as you are. I would argue that so would Madonna be if she naturalised, but it makes sense for her to remain single-citizenship for tax purposes.

You got to love the USA. Its the only country on earth where you can emigrate to and in time become a member of that country in name and in practice.
