Question on US visa?

I am under a dilemma to decide about this problem. I am in US as F-1 student, my wife and children wants to join me for which they will need F-2 visas. Incidentally, an application for immigration is filed last year by my wife's sister. Will this bar them from coming here? I dont know why it should since immigration process is lengthy and it's results are uncertain?

Answer:
There's a chance it will bar them since there is a pending immigration petition. There's no way to know for sure until your wife goes in for her interview. Whatever she does, she should not lie about the pending petition.
