Do you think politicians don't enforce immigration laws out of fear of losing the Hispanic vote?
Answer:
They don't want to alienate(no pun intended) the Latino vote, or the Liberal vote. I really fear that one day, somebody will cross the southern border with a dirty bomb, or nuke. Maybe after a million or so more Americans die, people will realize how dangerous this world is, and they will act.
To all those in favor of an open border, I ask you this... When you go to work...do you lock the door to your house? ...When you park the car, do you leave the keys in the ignition and windows open? ... When you have people over for dinner, do you know who they are? ... Before you go to sleep, do you check on your kids and make sure they are safe?
If you answered Yes to any of these, and still support an open border, the you are a very dangerous hypocrite.
Thank You!
And for those who talk about 'cheap labor'...What happens when the minimum wage is at $10 an hour??? Will you still have a valid argument??? I really think not.
No..
The last president to live up to his constitutional duties in this
regard was Dwight Eisenhower..
No, it's because doing so would shock our fragile economy into collapsing. We are more unstable right now then right before the Great depression started, and that was a result of a large shock, which, incidentally, included deportation of massive numbers of illegal aliens.
I think so.
I have often thought the same thing, they are politicians after all.
Whoa Boggle, you are right
There are only two rules in politics:
1. Get elected
2. Get re-elected.
If they figure they can get some of the illegals votes or votes from sympathizers, they are going to mine them...
the politicians are afraid to get thrown out of office and have to go to work, so they try to make everyone happy. but we all know that can't be done so nothing get done.
I think that politicly speaking there is little to be gained or lost via proposing and supporting immigration laws. If you support tougher laws you lose the votes of many immigrants and sympathizers. Along with the extreme possibility of being labeled a racist. If you oppose tougher laws you run the risk of losing the nationalist vote along with the extreme possibility of looking soft on crime.
No. Illegal immigrants are a source of cheap labor for businesses, both large and small. They help keep wages down in the United States and thus make the US more competitive with cheap slave labor in places like China, India and Southeast Asia.
Corporate America owns our government. They give huge $$$ to politicians for their election campaigns, both directly and indirectly through PACs. Since the politicians are in the hip pockets of business and since cheap illegal labor is good for business, the politicians choose to give lip service to immigration law while looking the other way on enforcement.
They don't enforce immigration laws because they are scared of losing the corporate donations they receive from the businesses that hire illegal immigrants. They rather the American citizens pay for the illegal immigrant's education, health and subsidize their wages with welfare because the corporations will not pay them a decent wage or benefits. This of course reduces Americans wages as well.
Think of it as welfare to the rich corporations.
I say yes. You see for politicians, votes are all that matter. The ultimate goal at the end of the day is to have as many votes as possible and be in your position of power.
I don't think that the majority of Hispanics actually are against this. I don't know what kind of Hispanics you know but this is not the case where I am. Let us assume that even if it is true. The majority of Hispanics ARE against illegal immigration, then try convincing a politician.
This assumption is just so out of whack (even though it maybe true) that no one will believe it. For a politician, it is way too much of a gamble.
If you don't vote, you don't exist. That is it!
In a 2006 poll, 53% of hispanics wanted illegal aliens DEPORTED.
"The majority if not all of the Latino/Hispanic community OPPOSE illegal immigration and amnesty."
How did you arrive at this conclusion?
I hope you don't quote the youdon'tspeakforus.com website. They are just a F.A.I.R. front.
The immigration issue is a political football. They talk a good game but in the en d no one wants to offend the Hispanic vote. Yes legal immigrant want secure borders & enforcement for all the illegal but their relatives. Do you think if some one comes here from Mexico legal & their brother sneaks in illegaly, do you really think they will turn them in? so yes they are for secure borders & enforcement for some one elses family but not theirs.
I really think that the politicians know that there is no one else going to pick the very same fruit that you love to eat but them.
I think its out of fear of losing their financial supporters.

Hey..........wait a minute these companies(correction...listed in the first link) also financially support "certified acts of terrorism". What a koyannisquatsi.
It sure appears that way! By both parties. So much for thinking about the betterment of the country over individual careers.
I think the politian don't want to enforce the law because they don't want to ruining this country's reputation. The reason that America is a admiring place to live and for other country to look up to is because the law in this country is fair and our standards are high, we can't have a mass exodus that chass out all illegal immigrant in one racial group that you mentioned here. Other country would look at us as if we're crazy, inhumane and unreasonable. Sort of like the way American look at Iraquies.
If nothing else, it is a GREAT way to get votes. Second, with new initiatives, such as WHTI(Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative) and US-VISIT(a system of biometrics to monitor people entiring and leaving the country via fingerprints, set to be in place in Dec. 08, we may be facing a great decrease in the number of new illegal immigrants.
