What is Green card , is that any differnet with Citizen?
Answer:
The correct term for the green card is Form I-551, Legal Permanent Resident Alien Card. They call it “the green card” because at one time, the color of the card was green. It changed about 10 years ago.
A person that has been issued an I-551 has the same privilege and/or rights of the United States Citizen with the exception of voting for U.S. President Elections. Also they are certain jobs that required for the applicant to be a United States Citizen, like any law enforcement jobs or anything that requires a security clearance.
Legal Permanent Residents Aliens have to present his/her “green card” when they come in the U.S. If they do not have the card; they have to pay for a waiver to get into the U.S. The fee might be waived in some situations. If they loose the “green card” they have to replace it. About 20 years ago those cards did not had an expiration date. Now, the card is only valid for ten years.
If you are not a citizen you need a green card to work.
If you ARE a citizen you do not need one.
"Green Card" is the Alien Resident Card issued to aliens (legally qualified under the US immigration laws) to reside in the US with a conditional or permanent status. The "Green Card" does not confer citizenship.
