Do you think Senator Dole likes flowers?
"WASHINGTON -- U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Dole made a midnight move late Wednesday to kill the delicate immigration deal teetering in the U.S. Senate.
Dole, a Salisbury Republican, switched her vote, casting a vote in favor of a critical amendment that would force a new guest worker program to sunset after five years.
The sunset provision, if kept, could all but doom the comprehensive reform legislation. It passed by a one-vote margin, 49-48, at 11:59 p.m.
Dole supports guest workers but opposes the bill overall, calling its provisions for a path to citizenship “amnesty.”
“It came down to the point where this was really the only way,” Dole said in an interview today. For a week, Dole said, she and others had been trying to narrow the bill’s “amnesty” provisions, but that wasn’t working.
This week, she said, it came down to defeating the bill altogether."
What do you think?
Answer:
Perhaps an E-mail to show support. I'm thinking perhaps sending e-mails to Presidential Candidates might be called for, at this point. Perhaps some of them might change their vote if they realize what the whole of America feels. My district seems hopeless though , since I am in a very liberal district in California. I'm planning to have my say about considering felons getting the Z visa to my reps. My congresswoman, Diane Watson, stated that she support this line of thought. I was willing to compromise on the bill, but the felon part is just too much for me to handle.
Good for her.
