My boyfriend and I obtained our marriage license yesterday from a recorder's office in California. He used his mexican ID card and I used my CA drivers license. They didn't ask for birth certificates, SSN's or anything. He and I are going to marry on Sat. I heard that since we're married that all he'll be is fined for being illegally here in the U.S. but all we have to do is a pay a fine and start the process for him to eventually become a citizen. Can anyone provide me with more info? Thanks.

He will be fined $1000 for coming here illegally but you will not have to pay that till he has his interview with INS. You still have to file the I-130 ,485a, and another one but cant remember what it is.. Sorry.. Got to the INS website or if you have a local catholic charties they should be able to help you with all of this information.. Please make sure to take picture of you and him at your wedding and get bills and stuff in both of your names this is asked for at the interview.
