Are the immigration laws too harsh?

Answer:
No. this country we live in is the best in the world. if they want to move here and live their life in the United States, they should prove that they will be loyal to our laws and constitution, and so obtain citizenship the legal way.
Depends on what your ultimate goal is.
no
They should be simple -- if you are illegal go home or you will be arrested. Mexico's big family mentality has produced too many children, and getting much worse all the time. They have destroyed themselves, and it will destroy us if we try and save them. I believe overpopulation will be the most important issue of the upcoming century and how we deal with it now will determine our future.
Not hard enough !
I'd say they aren't strong enough.
obviously not since there are still illegal immigrants right now.
we have immigration laws?
YES THEY ARE! My friends dad has been away for 2 yrs. trying to fix his papers... he has 3 children in the states, and no one seems to care...he's never been in any trouble or broken the law, and yet this is how they treat him...
I don't think they are harsh enough!
No, they aren't even enforced. I think most Americans want all Illegal aliens deported right away.
Laws? None of them are enforced so what does that matter? The only people who have difficulty are those who try to FOLLOW the law and be law abiding citizens. What's wrong with THIS picture?
Sneak on in,
get free medicaid,
Social security,
Welfare,
medical care in any emergency room,
free public education,
free social services.
Don't worry about violating our borders, we will give you amnesty.

NO, doesn't sound too rough to me.
What immigration laws?...Currently there is no penalty for being in the U.S. illegally...All that happens is that they get deported to where they cam from.
Not harsh enough
HA HA have you read Mexico's?
hell No, ask Mexico about it's harsh immigration laws?
btw if you call paying fees and waiting your turn to enter legally then yes
They aren't enforced, so why does it matter?
The laws must be implemented first before you can determine if they are to harsh.

Most of our Immigration laws are just not enforced like they should be

T
Why don't we check out other countries to truly look at THEIR immigration laws, then we can see how lenient we are.

Those that want to be here illegally cry about us being so tough, let them try to get into another country and see how easy it is there.
No. Laws are laws. They were created for a purpose and should be followed.
As far as I'm concerned, they should be a hundred times stricter. If they're willing to alienate to our country, they should be shot off of the border. If they sneak in, they actually seem to get better treatment than some real, legal U.S. citizens. We need a mile-high, barbed wire fence, electrocuted all the way through around our borders because we don't want them stealing our jobs and good treatment. I wonder how they would like it if we all snuck into their country...
HA ! considering 11 outta the 13 i work with are not legal, i'd say not!!
Immgration legally to this country is harsh if you can't afford the fee.

It is harsh if you don't want to wait 3+ years

It is harsh if while you were on a visa you had a misdemeanor.

I do think there should be a culture over greed plan.

-If you come here illegally and are exploiting the system by knowingly giving birth to a child in the country, that should stop.

-If you want to be an American citizen it should be required to learn the cultures, history and laws of the land. You might even come out smarter than some citizens. No offense to some citizens. It's not your fault. It's our education system.

-You should not have to pay an initial fee to get the paperwork.

-If after interrogation and testing about American values, our laws, constitution, American history and if you can say the pledge of allegiance proudly you pass with flying colors. You pay no fee. Welcome!

-If you make make a B for your grade, you pay $50-200.

-If you make a C you pay $100-300

If it's below a C, it's your own fault. You will either get to restudy and try again or if on inspection you instead of saying the pledge of allegiance you show utter digust, you aren't welcome.

-If you refuse to speak the pledge of allegiance and give some PC response as to why or you find it disgusting, hit the door!

-You must not have a hard criminal background. Misdemeanor, the records will be looked at. If it's something very minor, you should be allowed a chance.
I agree. They aren't harsh enough!! if they aren't over here legally than why complain? They are doing something that's not legal in the first place. GO HOME ILLEGAL ALIEN B @ S T @ R DS!!
no...think 9/11
They're not harsh, they're inefficient.
Yes they are, people that have never dealt with immigration for their papers would say is not, I know a lot a people who are trying to bring their families from other countries for years now.
Now if you refer to immigratio laws on illegal immigration, well not really.
I have been to other countries and no the laws we have in place are not harsh enough
LOL No! Now, MEXICO'S immigration laws are...if you want to talk about harsh!
