Why can't I ever get someone who speaks English on the phone?
Answer:
Many companies outsource to India for their call centers which is great for India but really hideous for the customers here in the States. Be sure to let your wireless company know how you feel because that's the only way this will change. Send a letter to the corporate office addressed to the president. These letters do get read and if enough are received, things change.
Having been laid off from a call center for a wireless company, I know exactly what you're talking about. My department's call center was outsourced to a mid-west state and I had to go and train them to do the job that I was about to lose. It's a pity that all of the disgruntled wireless customers can't get together and start a company where people can call and speak to someone they can understand and the wait times would be non-existant.
Because this is America.
Outsourcing of jobs. I usually get Habeeb from India. It sucks!
One word- Outsourcing.
I know how you feel, been there myself.
You were talking to someone over in India. What do you expect?
Sometimes they're in other countries...which doesn't excuse the fact, but you know.
perhaps you should learn a second language. it will open your mind and your heart.
Because we out source to India. You usually talk to India when you call a major company's customer service.
More and more call centers are being moved offshore.
The company you are with dont care about you. The company you are with care about making money, and if that means hiring Indians for a substantially lower pay rate, they will do that. So you pay more money to your company, and your company pays less money to their employees.
its cheaper to out source the calls to another country.
very annoying!
Because your country USA decided to move customer service jobs elsewhere because of cheaper pay. its called cheap labor and this thing has been going on for years. Illegal individuals are not the ones to be blamed its both the countries fault . the country where they are coming from for not supporting there own citizens and the country they are going into for not enforcing the laws on immigration or for companies who hire illegals..don't blame the people, the people just want to live a better life.
That is because your phone company outsourced their jobs to India.
The same thing will happen with most other jobs in America if and when illegal immigrants were kicked out.
It's called outsourcing and I understand your frustration as I have also dealt with this many times.
I don't know where you are from, but in Canada I learned a little trick. Up there most companies give a choice between service in french or english. If you choose english you usually end up talking to someone at a call center in India or somewhere. If you choose french, you get a local operator who, you guessed it, speaks perfect english and will serve you in english. "OOPS sorry, I must have pressed the wrong button."
Sad but true. It is because it is cheaper to hire a non-american (outsourcing) customer service agent. Most americans want big salaries and less work (customer service is a lot of work). That isn't exactly good for business. That is also the reason why there are a lot of illegals. They are not picky of the jobs turned down by citizens. BTW even if you had a megaphone to the ear of the rep you were talking, he still may not understand (completely) a word you were saying. Duhhhh.***
Most of the telecommunications companies have outsourced their call centers to India. Customer Service is dead in the USA. Start complaining to your wireless provider.
Would you mind tell us which phone company are you using? Last time, my service call was routed to India, my experience was fine. I buy my grocery from Kwik-E-Mart, and I have not problem with Apu. Just chill & releax!
stop complaining
Cuz this is America not England!
For English press 2
Outsourcing. I know they are trying..but when you're spending hours on the phone waiting for help..it's frustrating as all get out to not be able to understand them to get the problems resolved. I write the companies myself and when it comes time to replace something.I'm not going to buy that product or use the service who won't have people on for assistance that I can understand. It's bad enough wasting a day on hold without all the other grief. When I press 1 for English I don't think it's overstretching the ground rules to expect to communicate in English and I don't feel I need to learn a ton of foreign languages to do business.
I agree! I Had sprint and every time I called and waited on hold to find out why I had extra charges and what they were, I got Mujibar or his brothers and sisters. I couldn't understand a thing he said and he had no clue what I was talking about. I finally called a Sprint store and demanded a number i could call where someone spoke English. Needless to say I canceled my service with them. I have the same problem with Dishnetwork. Every time I call there I have to press 1 for English and I get Mujibar and can't understand a freak'n word he says. So much for "Press 1 for English"! It must be the same phone system AOL uses. When you call them, I believe someone in India answers your call!
You probably got someone from another country. As others have stated, it is outsourcing. Drives me nuts too!
Request to speak to an American English speaker. I'm sure they have at least one American manager or supervisor there that can help you. Good luck!
