Q1) Do you feel immigration standards are too loose? Yes.
Q2) How do you feel about immigration standards for the
middle East? If you mean in coming to America, then I believe this should also be tightened further (and numbers reduced).
Q3) Do you think all countries should have the same number of immigrants? Why? No. We decide as a nation those compatible with our nations culture and desires. Economic concerns are often the reason we seek to allow immigration from various nations, they are not random openings.
Q4) Do you believe immigrants are taking "our" jobs? Yes, there is no question of this. (although not every immigrant has taken a job someone else would do necessarily, but as to answer your question generally...yes.
Q5) Immigrants overall? Good news or bad news? Legal immigrants are generally good for the country (although I do think we should not be bringing in people from nations that are openly hostile to the United States, or our customs.
Q6) Who do you THINK has a larger population on food cards? No idea. It makes no difference. American citizens are entitled to use of social services, all others are simply not.
Q7) Any ideas for reform? Put employers of illegal aliens in prison.
Q8) What should happen to the immigrants currently here?
If they are illegal they should go home and come through legal means (putting their employers in prison will make them go home without the need for deporting them).
Q9) Should the rules on foreign marriage change? I have not reviewed these rules enough to comment.
Q10) Who, if anyone, should have leeway in the rules when it comes to marrying or bringing foreigners into America? US citizens only obviously.
Q11) Do you feel safe with immigrants? Generally yes. Illegal aliens however are another matter.and statistically they are not "safe" for the nation.
We already have laws to build fences, punish businesses who hire illegals, arrest and deport Illegals, beef up border security.
We don't need out Congress to write anything new...JUST ENFORCE THE LAWS!!

Listen.this is America and our country should put Americans first in everything. Immigrants should not have any rights here at all, lets take care of our fellow Americans first. America is NOT the lifeboat for the rest of the world. We dont owe anyone a damn thing except to our veterans.
Other countries dont even allow immigration..there is no real reason we need immigrants anymore. Let the people from other countries build up their own country, dont run away and try to hide in America. America was built at a price of blood....most immigrants are cowards in their own country, thats why they try to hide here.
There are PLENTY of Americans ready to work for a decent wage.
Its time we took back our country and maybe even changed the form of government we have. We are no longer represented fairly, the representation is for the wealthy and special interests.
The Americans in our country come in all colors and religions. There is no race involved. What IS involved is simple...this is OUR country and we dont want anymore damn immigrants..got it?
People, we built this country and many of us shed blood for our country, we deserve to have a home, secure from foreign invaders. An illegal immigrant is a foreign invader.
America is in a death spiral. We cant carry the weight of every crybaby that wants into our great country. We need to put a MORATORIUM on all immigration, until every single American is taken care of first.
AMERICANS FIRST..then..maybe...a few immigrants here and there.
Maybe closer than we think....to that special time.....time to lock and load
Female, 54 years young, white, US born citizen, employed, high school education and some college (no degree).
Yes, I think the immigration standards are too loose.
I don't know the immigrations standards of the Middle East. If you mean middle easterners coming into our country, I feel the same about them as I do any other immigrants.
I do not think all countries should have the same # of immigrants. How could that ever be enforced unless you had some "immigrant clearing house" where they were all processed and then sent to the country who's turn it was to get them based on some quota? No way that would ever work!
I don't believe immigrants are taking our jobs. It's pretty obvious the jobs they take are ones no one here is willing to do, even our unemployed don't want these type jobs.
Overall, I think we need immigrants. It's how our country was formed and became the melting pot that it is now. Remember all the Italians, Irish, Germans, etc. who came through Ellis Island and helped our country become what it is? Immigrants, all of them!
I don't know what you mean by a larger population on food cards. Is that food stamps??
I think the immigrants already here should have a timeframe in which they can become legal citizens. I get angry that they do not pay taxes here, while others do, and that some are even asking for free health care. Don't get me going on that issue.I can't afford health insurance myself, so don't go there!
I don't know all the legal specifics, but I generally think that you should not be able to marry and then get a free pass on citizenship. I think it should be earned, not automatically granted.
I feel as safe with immigrants as I do with anyone else.

2. 33

4. No

6. Self-employed - business owner

Q1. I don't think that the standards are "too loose". What I think is "too loose" is the enforcement of those standards.
Q2. Personally, I don't know the immigration standards of the Middle East, so I don't feel I can offer an answer for that question.
Q3. No. If you mean for all countries to take in the same number of immigrants, it can't happen due to the demand of going to a certain country, as well as the size of the country and the wealth it has to distribute. And if you mean the US taking in the same number from every country, I don't think there should be any stipulation on where you are from or how much money you personally have.
Q4. I think that some are, but I don't feel that is the true issue of the illegal immigration debate. I think that is merely one aspect of it, and it is a small one.
Q5. I have no issue with immigrants coming into this country, just so long as they come into this country legally. We have the laws in place for a reason, and I think that it is a personal slap in the face to those that follow the laws and come into this country legally when people that broke the laws to come in here cry that they should be allowed to stay, and that this country is legally considering this. Why did they have to jump through the hoops simply because they didn't have the benefit of a connecting border?
Q6. Well, I would hope it was the citizens of the US - since they are legally able to use these government subsidies. If it isn't that way, then it is a true travesty.
Q7. Enforce the laws and strengthen the borders. Allow the law enforcement of cities and states to handle it as well as the government. The cities and states are the ones that suffer the burdens of the illegal immigrants coming here and living in their communities. I think that allowing them to do something to "defend" their communities is only fair.
Q8. They should all be deported and not allowed an opportunity to come back in. If they broke the laws in the first place, then they shouldn't have an opportunity to benefit or profit from it.
Q9. I don't know if there is a way to change them.
Q10. I think that if an American Citizen wishes to bring someone into this country, or marry someone not of this country, there should be some sort of consideration given to them before anyone else. It should be American Citizen, Legal Resident, and then applying for residency.
Q11. I don't know if I feel safe or not. But after 9/11, I think that we need to know who is in this country and for what. I don't think that it is currently a possibility. That is where I think we are most vulnerable, and I think that we really need to look at things.
