Shouldn't they be busy making their homelands into better places instead of running away from the problem?

The early European settlers didn't arrive in North America and find already built bridges, mega corporations, apartments, paved roads, hospitals, social services offices, etc. The early European settlers built all that. So why can't these people from Mexico and elsewhere do the same in their own countries?
The early European settlers were faced with starvation, indian attacks, plagues, storms, horrid cold, wars being waged between Spain, England and France. And yet, they still built all these things. So why can't these people from thirdworld do the same?
Democrats love people disgracing & insulting our flag.
My thoughts are that I'll evaluate their objections based on facts. What symbols they use in protest are of no concern to me.

I got an email with the picture of this. I cannot believe someone didn't get in trouble for it or go to jail. Those that did this obviously don't want to be American, but they must remember if they want to come to American, the land of the free they need to abide by our laws and not try and make it Mexico here or they will be in the same boat they are in now.
Simple.. deport them all to Mexico if they think it's so great!
I don't think people come to america to dis' with their flags. I'm sure that you've seen many flags from different nations in america like the flags in the embassy from different countrys.

The Mexican flag over the top is for conquest, and is very disrespectful. Putting it up a public (US) school flagpole was likewise disrespectful.
However, flying it upside down with respect is a sign of an emergency, as if a fort had small pox or had been taken by the enemy.
Myself, I am tempted to fly it upside down.
Hanging the flag unside down is fine, it's a distress signal, and being a free country you can do that. I take acception to the Mexican flag flown above the US flag, and I get tired of people bashing America not just immigrants!
How dose it make me feel? I feel angry! What right do they have to not only put their flag above ours but to put our flag upside down. A flag that represents all the people who have died and are still dieing for our great country. Also if our country wasn't as wonderful as it is they wouldn't be here in the first place.
Personally, etiquette aside, I find it distasteful!

The incident you are referring to was a group of illegal immigrants protesting. The hung the Mexican flag over the upside down American flag as sign of disrespect, not distress.
I am really tired of the whole debate. The fact is if they are here illegally, they have broken our laws of entering the country and should be deported, period. Check out the immigration laws of Mexico sometime. I think we should adopt their stance. Illegals are NOT given a voice. If you are there as a visitor, your opinion does not count. If you have moved there from another country, you are NOT allowed to fly the flag of your country. You are not asked, but EXPECTED to know the language. Your children are not taught in their native tongue, they have to speak Spanish. So, it's do as I say and not as I do? The whole argument should be over.
The U.S. needs to stop being so wishy-washy and stop worrying about hurting everyone else's feelings. NO MORE P.C. We always say that if people don't like our opinion, then too bad. It's time we started believing that again. And this does not stop at the Hispanic population. If you are here illegally, you are breaking the law. These people need to be sent back to their country of origin, WHEREVER that is.

Under international law, hanging a flag upside down means the occupants (it usually applys to vessels at sea) are in distress and need saving. They have obviously haven't been paying attention in class and should be forced to pay for their rescue.
I find it extremely offensive. I´d like to see what would happen if we tried to fly the Mexican flag upside down in Mexico with the American flag over it.

It must make liberals happy as heck. But in another way, we are a country being invaded. Hanging the Mexican flag over the top tells us all we need to know, these people even if they ever would get amnesty ( lets hope they never do ), will never call themselves Americans.
It's classless and out of line. Being upset is fine. Protesting is fine, but, you will always get these rude people who think their rights are superior to everyone else's, because they think the US Constitution says so. Well, in case they didn't know, your rights end, where another person's rights start. So, what is the emergency, and why do they think that California belongs to Mexico? California hasn't been a part of Mexico (Became a state in 1850) since before the American Civil War (1860-1864).
Whether they know it or not they did alot of Americans a favor that day,by waking them the hell up. And it's fitting that they used the form of flag display that shows a state of distress,because our country is most definitely in a state of distress when our leaders not only do nothing about a problem like this but make excuses for their presence and behavior. INS should have been at those rallies in force gathering people up busing them down to the border and kicking them out,any actuaql legal immigrants caught up in the sweep could just walk back up to the border show their ID and get back in.
The worst thing is that thanks to weak kneed democrats and greedy republicans in our govt these people are very likely about to get their way in the form of millions getting amnesty.

The flag hung upside down means Americans under extreme duress, need assistance immediately. It is a kind of visual communication from the days when flags were used in the signal corp. Yes even the American flag was used in this manner, as a tool for signaling.
The upside down flag to me means the same thing I have been feeling about immigration and several other policies enacted recently. The only thing I would find disrespectful in that visualization you presented here is a Mexican flag hung above the American flag. As a Good American I have to rally to that American Flag hung upside down and find out the reason there are Americans under duress. It is my duty to alleviate that duress. Now in a war of words that means I have to use words as a tool. Now I ask you, what are you trying to do here?
When you are a hated, persecuted, discriminated racial minority, you can't avoid hating the country and nation that does that to you, in return.

My first impression is SOS. Not just for the person doing it, but for those seeing it and realizing it is not an American in distress but a foreigner using our distress to torment us.
My second thought is that there's been alot of talk about making flag burning and the like a punishable crime. Sorry, but if someone goes out and buys a flag, which is a piece of cloth or plastic, and then hangs it upside down or burns it, it is still a piece of cloth and I am no less an American because of what they did. If they do this to someone else's flag, then it's a property crime.
However, when it's a foreigner doing it, I think they should be investigated because these actions are an indication of much worse things going on such as criminal behavior.

Why do people only care if it is Mexicans that come illegally to this country. If your singling out one group of many that probably come here against the law then it is racism.
I think it's absolutely disgusting to come into a country and deliberately disrespect it and it's citizens. All those who do should be put in prison. They knew how wrong that was, but they did it anyway. What does that tell you about them?
No national flag should be hung upside down for no reason--The USA did it to the Canadian flag during the Olympics--disgraceful no matter what people are trying to justify--if you don't like the country get the F%$ out!!
