The quacks--especially, but not limited to the ones on the left--have been talking out of both sides of their mouth for YEARS, SAYING that they support the concept of "energy independence", but at the same time OPPOSING every real world solution that would get us there: More Nuclear Power Plants; Drilling in ANWR; Drilling in the HUGE oil field recently located in the gulf of Mexico (Now, REALLY, do you think that the Cubans and the Mexicans that are GOING to drill there--because they don't give a $**T what the American Eco-Freaks say--with their technologically inferior equipment are going to be LESS LIKELY to cause an environmental incident than the Hi-Tech American companies?); Building MORE REFINERIES, since we have not built ones here in over 30 years (expanding refinery capacity ALONE will SIGNIFICANTLY LOWER THE END COST OF GASOLINE IN THE UNITED STATES!); Expand our use of "Clean Coal" Technology that is SIGNIFICANTLY CLEANER than what is used in developing countries (China, India, Etc.); eliminating almost ALL of the SIXTEEN different blends of gasoline that are made across the country--which cause price increases as refineries have to re-tool and adjust formulae depending on need for different blends in different areas--reducing that number to no more than THREE, which would make refinery activity MORE EFFICIENT, and CHEAPER; and Utilizing the MASSIVE OIL SHALE deposits that are HERE in North America! All of these line items individually will STRENGTHEN AMERICAN NATIONAL SECURITY by making us LESS DEPENDENT on foreign, hostile nations for our energy needs, and TOGETHER they could DRAMATICALLY reduce both our energy costs, AND our dependence on foreign sources for energy!
Attempting to adhere to the outrageous Kyoto protocol, on the other hand, would result in SIGNIFICANT INCREASES in costs to ALL AMERICANS--especially the poor, who spend a disproportionately HIGHER percentage of their take home income on energy costs--while doing NOTHING to decrease our dependence on foreign energy, and causing MORE Greenhouse gases to be expelled planetwide, as the KYOTO EXEMPT nations have much less efficient environmental technologies, and since all the energy production would simply RELOCATE to the exempt countries!
Higher levels of energy production with less efficient environmental technology will result in MORE GHG's, and HIGHER ENERGY PRICES!
We can resolve the Gasoline Price issue with COMMON SENSE, market philosophy: More supply+ More competition=Lower Prices. Plain and simple! Increase supply, increase efficiencies, increase competition, and prices go down while quality goes up! Implement government controls and restrictions, and price goes UP! For those who disagree, I CHALLENGE YOU: When has that EVER, NOT BEEN THE CASE!?!?!?

P.S. OF COURSE, the one thing that government COULD do, is to LOWER THE GAS TAX! The government makes on average THREE TO FOUR TIMES as much per gallon as the oil companies--without putting ANY of their own money or technology at risk! There is an EASY way for government to step in and lower gas prices 5%--IMMEDIATELY!! Then, once the other supply increasing methods that I have described are in place, they could, if absolutely necessary, return the taxes to prior levels--once the pricing has dropped to tolerable levels!
Well, wouldn't it be better to focus on alternative fuel sources in order to better the economy?
Edit: I know everything comes from petroleum products. We can still work around it.
This must be the dumbest argument I have seen thus far. This is not for the Immigration section. Illegals aren't the only ones using gas you idiot.
I wouldn't put anything past this government. The oil crisis is nothing more than an industry created one to get people to do what the oil companies want them to do which is to do exactly what you say they are proposing to do here...that and to price gouge.
Don't believe me, look at the few memos that have made their way to the internet...reminds me of Enron.
Golden...who do you think is sabotaging all of this? The people in the government has major shares in the oil industry. They are doing all of this on purpose to gouge the consumer...it is the wolf guarding the hen house.
It is your choice not to believe me and to give me a thumbs down...but I have been right about a lot of things...for instance the way that Bush's tenure is turning out and our going to war with Iraq. I can see a lot of other things happening but why write them, you wont believe to begin with.
