i think everyone missed your point. i think what you were trying to convey to people is that it is the not that hard to press one but it is the fact of the matter that in America we are slowly losing our rights as citizens. and that the top priority now seems to be to cater to immigrants from Spanish speaking countries. which is wrong. i don't see any other country catering to immigrant in there country. if you decide to migrate here illegally or legally then you must learn the language of that country.
Some phone numbers are used in several different countries. Not everyone on on earth speaks English.
But yes it does get annoying and they should have separate numbers for different countries.
Generally I get for English press 1 por espanol ocho or something like that. It should all be in English and only English. If they don't want to learn the language than they can go home.

Yes!! I live in Europe half of the time,when I use the phone there first it is in the native language then in English.I have to dial another number most of the time. If I can do it so can people going to the states. I know alot of people from Europe and everyone of them has learned English. Are Europeans just smarter??!

I see nothing wrong with with having to choose which Language to speak,in fact there should be more choices such as Vietnamese,Russian,French,Chin... there are so many foreigners here and there should be more.Maybe Israel and Iraq are too crowded and their entire populations should come then they can live a peacefull life.The states of Nebraska,Kansas, and New Mexico have plenty of room for newcomers.
These companies practice trade on an INTERNATIONAL level. Sorry but ENGLISH isn't the world language.What don't you understand about that?Half of these companies aren't even in the U S. You're getting INDIA or CHINA when you call.

The USA speaks English NOT Spanish, period...Why can I say that it is the national language? Because the Declaration of Independence, the Bill of Rights and last, but not least, the CONSTITUTION was written in it!
And NO, it shouldn't be "For Spanish, press one?" why? For reasons that I have previously mentioned.
It would be interesting to know what the aggregate difference in cell phone minutes are from hearing and responding to the "For English, Press One" is.
I agree, it is rather annoying. Maybe a commonly used default option in the background, like pressing 9, would help. An option that people just 'knew' about, but would save the rest of us from having to hear the option while navigating through voicemail hell.

Yes, I'm sick of it, too. And every other immigrant (legally here) is sick of it as well. Notice that it never says "Press 3 for French, Press 4 for German, Press 5 for Chinese...", etc.
It isn't a matter of laziness but a matter of we shouldn't HAVE to choose a number. This is the USA - SPEAK ENGLISH and if you don't then go back! I'm sick of all this bilingual bs!

This is America. Why do we have to bow to every other country? Yes this is ridiculous. We need to get back to the baisics of this country . One Nation Under God. We should be number 1 on the telephone. And in everything else too. We help everybody but our own people. Good hard work never hurt anyone.
Why do the Mexicans always think they insult us when they speak Spanish? Don't they realize that the only reason they speak Spanish is that our "gringo" cousins back in Spain conquered them and raped their women hundreds of years ago? Get it through your thick skulls - when you speak Spanish, you're STILL speaking one of the white man's languages - you aren't being rebellious or anything.
