Permanent Resident as a result of asylee?

1. Does a person who granted a Permanent Resident as a result of asylee can apply a passport from their home country embassy in the U.S.? or they can't ?

2. If they can't, what kind of travel document they need ?

3. If they renew their passport with their home country passport, is there any affect to their resident status in the U.S. ?

Thank you

Answer:
1. They can apply. Question is can they get it. Answer depends on home country embassy and rules. Most countries won' t issue passport to someone who got asylee status in US based on persecution in his/her own country. It makes sense too. On one hand you are saying your country is bad, you had problems and you don't want to go back. On the other hand, you are saying I am national of your country and give me your passport.
2. Travel document issued by US Government. It allows you to Travel anywhere except your home country. You still have to get visa from the country you want to visit.
3. No.
if you got the permanent resident status due to and asylum condition,,, no you can't go back to the country from were you got out,,, if you want to go back the ins may take away the residency,,, it is a very rare and special type of permit form the ins,, usually is giving to political refugees, persons and family's with death treats from governments or militia in their country,,, so if none of this happened to you maybe you don't deserve the permanent resident status,,,,
My husband is a Czech citizen, with a Czech passport and, is a resident alien. We travel back to the Czech republic every year for a month. You can renew your apssport with the country of your citizenship. Some countries may be a little more difficult tho. My husband and his family flead the CZ when it was under communist occupation, stayed in Austria for 2 years waiting for their green cards to come to the US. They have been here for over 12 years and have never had trouble renewing their passports. Check with your local embassy.
