Travel outside U.S. as being a U.S. Permanent Resident?

What passport do we need if someone want to travel outside the U.S. as that person is a U.S. Permanent Resident who obtained their status of being an asylee ?

Can they using their own country travel document ?

Answer:
Only US citizens are given US passports.

Non US citizens including permanent residents need to use their country of origins passport
You can only use your country passport, you cannot apply for a US passport being resident.
If you are traveling, ask for the time limits, I think you are allowed to be a maximum of 6 months outside the US.

You can use your own country's passport to travel as long as it is valid for more than six months at the time of visit to other country. Most countries won't let you in if your passport is going to expire within six months of arrival.

You need to get visa to the country you are going to visit.

If you don't have your country's passport, then you can apply for and get Travel Document from US government. You can travel anywhere except your home country on it.
