What exactly is a sanctuary city?
I just heard that a rather large city in California is becoming a sanctuary city. Right down the road from Disneyland. Nice.
How are these cities allowed to break the law?
Answer:
I define a sanctuary city as a city that openly does not enforce immigration laws.
Cities have been able to do this because the government in these cities on a federal, state and local level has failed. No agency has been assigned to deal with the problem.
I think the consequence will be vigilante type actions and worse yet large incidents of civil unrest.
They are not breaking the law. They are just looking the other way. They will not work with the feds who are looking for illegals.
they refuse to enforce the law, thereby making them sanctuary for the illegals
A place to hide criminals. If we enforce our laws there will be no such thing, Feds can go anywhere.
Immigration law is a Federal issue. Cities, counties and states have no right nor business to play Federal Cops.
Seems to me it's A place that tolerates scum & illegal activity.
piece of land that does not call itself part of this country -- they refuse to follow the laws of the land so they have seceded from the country.
Maywood California, needs a big can of raid.
A place freeloaders go to hide from ICE.
They feel the moral issue of granting people asylum outweighs any legal restriants. I am a social liberal, but this practice concerns me. We can't let EVERYONE into the U.S. who wants to move here. As it is -the financial burden on tax paying Americans is staggering-schools, health care, etc.
