Yeah, that would stop part of illegal immigration, but it would mean that crime would rise (a lot) and since a lot of american companies are left without cheap employees, the american economy would go to the trash.

Most companies will not be able to pay an increased salary. Obviously, even if they were able to, it would hurt them economically like nothing before.

1. For a DECENT paycheck, a LEGAL resident or citizen of the USA would harvest crops.
2. When wages rise, the overall economy does MUCH better. Look up what an increase in something called "M1" does for the US economy.
3. This suggestion does not apply to any one race, religion, or color. This suggestion applies to ALL illegal immigrants - regardless of their country of origin. So, stick yer "race card" in yer azz...
What part of "illegal" does not mean "law breaker" to you people? My ancestors came to this country legally - why shouldn't everybody else?
This suggestion is excellent! No job = no money = no housing and no food = self-deportation. This would also keep new illegals from coming here. No down-side to it!
I am so sick of hearing people scream racism! It is a fact that the majority of illegals are lazy, out to use the system, commit crimes, continue to have babies that they can't support, and live like trash. Not to mention, they expect us to be bilingual. If you're going to live here, then learn to speak English and support yourself!
I think the people who defend them and their rights, haven't lived around them to find out how they can bring down the value of a neighborhood.
I couldn't care less about what anyone thinks of me. I wasn't born with this opinion, it was formed by experience of having to live and experience illegals in the towns I have lived in.
Retro - you need to look up my question "Did you know..?". Also for those of you that say that the "Employers" would have to be liable for an exhorbant amount for each illegal hired, then they won't be able to hire anyone to take the place of the job and pay a decent wage - THEY'D ALL BE OUT OF BUSINESS. And those who said that since it will be better for the economy when everyone is paid a considered "fair wage" then all cost of living expenses will go up. To pay a fair wage and make a profit will begin the "tricle down effect" that we all know and love when the govt decides to raise minimum wage....
Facts are facts and economics is economics - when you figure out a way to keep costs the same and everyone can be paid more than minimum wage then honey - better believe you would have my vote.

I have seen so many people that are "American" and still can't spell with or without a dictionary.
I want the CEO's to go to prison and the fine be larger than what you proposed. As far as growing your Veggies. So what, I don't have a problem with that or picking someone elses either. Just because they are cheap does not give them or anyone else the right to break the law.
I agree, a huge fine with a long harsh prison sentence would certainly be incentive to not break the law and it would send a signal to the illegals that there is nothing to come here for.
