Is this illegal, should I talk to a lawyer?
Answer:
I don't think it was the airline because they don't have any authority to detain or even question someone on immigration issues. Was it C.R. immigration or U.S. immigration that stopped you from flying?
Personally, i think that even though there was a problem and you may have felt humiliated, if the department the stopped you was acting in good faith in the duties assigned them there isn't much you can do. Why does everyone jump so fast to sue people. Is this the ultimate get rich quick scheme at the expense of the tax payer? Who do you think shells out the money when people sue the government? You and I do.
Just be glad you made it back home.
I'd probably contact an attorney to at least find out who was responsible for the incident. You never know; could be a case of mistaken identity, and in that case, you'd be better off knowing in the future. Good luck.
Sorry about your missunderstanding did you need to have a C R ID if so better have it next time. Well with all the ID fraud an thieft you were 1 of the unlucky 1s that have 2 suffer.Along with the rest that have ID fraud.Best find out what happended an make sure it don't happen again.
It doesn't sound like you have much of a case, especially against immigration because they will likely be immune from any suit like this. The airline and immigration were probably acting reasonably under the circumstances if they thought there was an issue with your documentation. Even if they were in fact wrong about the procedure.
Who knows...pura vida
