Asylum seekers.?
Answer:
It would be better if the system of asylum had never been changed. It used to be that one could apply for asylum in the UK only OUTSIDE the UK. The application was then processed on its merits by the authorities in the UK, and a decision reached, with no, or very little, expenditure of public funds.
Why, and when, the system was changed I have no idea.
intresting
Life wasn't meant to be easy.
i disagree why dont we concentrate on educating our own kids instead of worrying about people who hate this country and are only here for the money.
I love the asylum =)
what?
Agreed. People who seek asylum are usually coming from bad situations in their home country, give them a chance to become productive citizens.
i respect that asylum seekers havent got it great, but to be fair i would rather we didnt give them money or a job, i would rather they werent allowed in the country...why? because i was made homeless, at the age of 17, a white girl from london, and when i went to the council i was given leaflets as to how to live rough safely.if the government was so worried about every other country i would possibley have been given a room somewhere, as it was at the last minute a friend came to my rescue, but we dont all have friends to rescue us, the government should take care of their own first before worrying about others
no because theres not enough jobs here as it is for the people who live here legally..im struggling to get a job because of this problem
When they say they are seeking asylum, does any one ask what they have done in their own country before letting them in ? most of them seem to be guilty of committing crimes in their country and only come here to escape justices. I think if they were given temporary status here and given temporary Nat ins number and tax numbers, that would be the last you'd see of them, they'd soon get lost in our society. Not that I'm against them working, but maybe in labour camps, where they cant disappear. But better still, just put a stop to them coming in the first place.
We should just put them in prison, feed them gruel and dirty water, then maybe they would stay in their own country and form a rebellion and fix whats wrong in their home land, rather than come here and try to change ours to what theirs is. What really blows me away is all the "we want sharia law" fart knockers in the UK. You want sharia law, go back to where you came from then.
You are right.
Nick C could'nt have said it any better, good on you mate.
You are wrong. If they were allowed to work then it would be an even greater pull upon those who might like to come here. They used to be allowed to work. That blanket permission was removed.
Asylum Seekers are very delicate, vulnerable and traumatised people. Why should they work?
(Oww, i've just bitten my tongue 'cos it was planted firmly in my cheek).
our civil servants couldnt organise a piss up in a brewery never mind anything temporary, they couldnt understand the concept being practically unsackable even for the mess THEY made of immigration. It was not the politicians who lost the terrorists.
How is this , they go to a Country , that is actually seeking,
asylum seekers.
To me it seems obvious that they should be allowed to work - in fact only those who are unable t work should be offered state support (same should apply to Brits!).
The permission to work was withdrawn a few years ago to discourage economic migrants claiming asylum - but the answer to that is simply to decide claims quickly (which they are now mostly doing) and to follow through with removal when necessary (not really happening yet).
Letting them work would be better for them, better for us as they would pay tax, and better for community relations, as BNP types wouldn't be able to moan on about the imaginary excessive benefits they get.
Believe me, five years on £30 a week, watching your life go down the drain, feeling hated, isn't much fun!
