My wife just got her 10-yr green card, what are the next steps to...?
Answer:
if she had a 2 year conditional before the 10 year card then she only has to wait one more year to file for citizenship, if she went straight to the 10 year card then 3 yrs before she can file for citizenship. if you are a u.s. citizen.
Hi if you look at the web site it will tell you and it has examples of the test. it also tells how long you have to wait.
I am not sure i think she has to wait three years ,,, I am asking this at the moment because i got my 10 year card last year yet i had been married and living here in the usa since nov 2000
Too early to be inquiring about this if she just got her green card. If she got it by marrying you, a citizen, then ask in about 3 years from now. That is when she will become eligible to apply for citizenship. Else she will be eligible in 5. A lot of new rules can be made in that time. Yes, there is a test, fingerprinting, and interviews.**
She needs to make a baby in the USA so we have someone to offer up to the military in 18 years, and then she can sing the Lee Greenwood song in tears.
As others have said, she will have to wait to apply for citizenship. Here are the requirements:

For an applicant married to a US citizen, the wait is only three years, but all the other requirements apply.
she doesn't need to anything else if she doesn't want to become an american citizen. She can stay here as long as she wants. If she decides not to become a us citizen, then she will have to keep renewing her green card every ten years. There is no interview for renewal. Just fill out a form and go take her finger print, her new green card will automatically be in mail in 2 or 3 months.
If she becomes us citizen, she will need to get a visa when she wants to go visit her own country.
