Anybody who pays attention knows things are going to crash this year. It has already started on many fronts: housing, stocks, debts, etc. It is going to get bad. But as regards immigration, they may even ramp it up to get over the recession, using the immigrants as the economic muscle to get it started again. So say 'Ola' to your new Spanish neighbourhood!
I doubt it. I mean they say our unemployment is practically nill but they only count those who qualify for unemployment....not the actual number out of work and looking. The unemployment is like over 20% for our youth. They're closing factories and going elsewhere....bringing in legal immigrants and paving the way for illegals......seems they're just waiting for the bottom to fall out.
I did see a cute joke today.....there were 2 guys sitting at a bar. One guy is well dressed holding the stock market report and a factory worker type guy is holding his pink slip. It's never a problem til it hits you. Never a big deal...til it hits you. The peons down here aren't screaming for nothing! They had a big push awhile back for technology.....before anyone had the time to change gears, go back to school and get out.....they just "outsourced" everything. Our jobs of the future were "service" and nursing and teaching....we have them....but now they want "must speak Spanish" and of course conviently....they can't understand our Spanish so we must save and hold jobs just for "hispanics". I'm so sick of the whole thing and tired of trying to figure this out. I don't think they have a clue as to what's going on. And if they do.....they sure aren't telling us.
As far as the UK is concerned, can we swap 100,000 benefits-mongers for a similar number of Eastern Europeans? At least the latter are prepared to do some work, pay some tax, and they have better manners than the indigenous Jade Goody chav-brigade.
Seriously, I live in a coastal town in England that had some Ploish destroyers based in our port, and we also had some Czech RAF squadrons based at a nearby airfield. A lot of them chose, and were allowed, to settle in the UK after WW2. We have a lot of 3rd generation types with forenames like Karel and surnames like Lenyk and Danilenko. They are the salt of the earth!. Whereas a lot of Smiths, Browns and Mosleys - all good English names, lie on a bed of benefits, spawn irresponsibly, nick whatever is not screwed down and cost the rest of us a fortune for their methadone.
