If you're "mexican-American" and you had to give one nationality up, would it be the mexican or the American?

Answer:
I would give up Mexican nationality up what the hell is it good for?
Someone would be really dumb to choose "mexican" lol
the AMERICAN never be ashamed of your roots.
American is not a nationality... It is a place - from Chile to the northern tips of Canada and the coasts of Greenland.
i gave up on Irish-American and European-American...
Anybody that needs a hyphen in front of the American part is never really an American.
Good question. Thats all, good question.
your such an idiot
Doesnt answer the question, but when I have kids, I will leave AMerica to raise them either in Mexico or a Central American country. I want the best for my kids and dont want them growing up around such a horrible influence as the typical American person -- terrible traits such as patriotism, egotism, coldness, violent, and vengefulness
id give up american
sir, your question makes no sense whatsoever. "Mexican-American" is a cultural designation and nothing to do with nationality. a Mexican-American could conceivably be Canadian, or English, French, Russsian, or Chinese. or any other of a hundred and fifty nationalities.
I think of myself as American first who happens to be of Mexican descent. My reason is my parents and grandparents on both sides where born in the United States. They were not born in Mexico.

While I do identify with both the American and Mexican culture. I am a American, when I travel overseas I use a US passport.

However the term Mexican American means a person who is American of Mexican desent. Think of it like Irish Americans They are Americans however they are proud of their Irish background.

Like I said I a American who happens to be of Mexican descent.
I've known many Mexican-americas that still being proudly Mexicans even after 10 gereration living in the States. No one else have such strongest roots. That makes them lucky. Good for them!
this question does not matter, because the USA does not have joint citzenship. i my self am half mexican and half american but because i was born in the USA i am only an american citzen.
american duh!!
being mexican is the best!!
Why do I have to choose? I'll keep both.
