Dual citizenship being revoked?
Answer:
First of all, it IS legal and possible to have dual citizenship. If you are a naturalized citizen of the U.S. then the oath you took actually requires you to denounce other citizenship, but this is no longer enforced, even though it is still in the oath.
If you are a U.S. citizen then immigrate to another country, you maintain dual citizenship, unless you specifically denounce it in writing at an embassy.
As far as whether U.S. Citizenship would or could be revoked, it is not something that is generally done, except for extreme cases. However, I don't know the specific laws, and with the patriot act, well ... I wouldn't be surprised at anything.
Well, as a instance I am aware that certain countries do not now allow dual citizenship, maybe if you did something fraudulent in your application like lying on personal information. Extradition is also something that might qualify for your citizenship to be revoked.
If you are over 18, the US does not recognize you are having dual citizenship. If you keep your Canadian passport then as far as the USA is concerned you are a Canadian
Rarely, for fraud in the application or for substantial crime.
Cher toff has duel citizenship for Israel Mexicans do too Irish a lot of people ,I plan to get mine soon ,I see the hand writing this county will be third world soon.Good luck .Welcome to the new world order.Nice you get to vote in two or three countries. As soon as I get to my new country I will help close the doors.
I would think this to be a possibility. If the US realizes they made a mistake in granting citizenship to a criminal, why not revoke it and send them back to their country of birth.
