Can anyone be denied a working visa to canada if he overstayed his visa from other country ?

my friend overstayed his visa and he had been deported but from another country (not the u.s.)

Answer:
It depends on whether your friend has a criminal record because of the overstay (again depends on the country). If yes, he will have to answer truthfully during the application. That alone may not be cause for rejection but it would be better if he came clean and worked with a good lawyer
