So, for the sake of argument, I wanted to get out of here and go live in Fluckedupistan and I arrived, without speaking any Fluckedupese, but expect to be immediately given food, shelter, clothing for me and my 48 relatives, what do you think the reaction would be? Then, still for the sake of argument, I did not want to work, yet expected to be kept by social security and to get 36 of my kids immunised by their national health service, do you think I should go to the top of the list? And also have the right to have translators employed to interpret for me, just because I couldn't be ar.sed to learn any of the tongue? Sure thing... yeah, that sounds reasonable, doesn't it?

Not at all.Who ruled the roost in the colonies.It was up to the colonials to speak the language of their masters.Similarly immigrants coming to England must show their subservience by learning the language of their betters.

all immigrants should speak the language of the country they want to to live in, this is the least effort they can make to a positive contribution and respect the country who accepted them.

Also, take a look at Australia, their laws, and then ask why they are so successful at looking after themselves.
If you move to another country you should have to speak the language. The UK no longer goes around and colonizes nations so you can't exactly hold the past against them. I'm an english speaker, but if I moved to France I'd expect to learn French. I hope the UK cracks down hard on its out of control Asian immigrants who refuse to learn English and won't integrate into their new culture.
I guess if you want to live here it is a whole lot easier if you can speak the language.

It is about the power of victors, nothing else. You have won - you create the rules. All imperia did - and do - the same. They feel superior to the the less fortunate nations which they conquered, however, often they are just more aggressive. Sadly, people are just animals... Look at dels replies for example and you will know, what I mean.

It is upto each of to polite and treat each other with respect.and easier to keep public reiationship. education , serve to the government and private sector etc.
What is the Language of the UK? It's English. The UK has bent over backwards to support immigrants, especially the illegal ones, to the detrimental effect of the local population.
Why stop at the UK. France did the same with there colonies, Most of South America speaks Spanish. If we go further back even the Romans did it. Why does a country wish its colonies to speak the lingo, the answer is simple and makes complete sense. If you were part of the empire, any of it's colonies, you could travel and have equal status within any of the other colonies. If you lived in India and traveled to South Africa for a new life surely it makes sense that you should be able to communicate when you were there. This also goes with the instructions. During the world wars the British empire fought as one, can you image how long it would have taken if the battle plan had to be interpreted into 30 different languages. The war would be over before the first order when finished.
Things do go wrong or misinterpreted when the are copied in the same language, different languages increase this problem. Take Poland's first motorway, grants and instructions from the EU in French and English. The poles built it and halfway the ends don't meet.
Why do immigrants from mainly Asia want the rest of Britain to change to there culture when they aren't willing to change to the culture that's already there?
