Do you think local law enforcement should be allowed to try and enforce immigration laws?

I happened to be reading the Post while sitting as the bus stop yesterday and came across this article.
http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/07177/797...

Is it worth while for local law enforcement to try and enforce these laws or would it lead to increased discrimination of latinos?

Answer:
Rather than throwing law enforcement into chasing illegals, arrest the employers who hire and profit by them.

The employers are the exact reason that the border has been wide open for the last 20 years, the reason that 11 to 14 million illegals are here, and the reason the immigration bill, a rerun of amnesty was tried.

Put the employers in jail and fine them for each illegal working for them, then stand back so you are not trampled by 11 to 14 million illegals thundering back across the border with what they have accumulated here.

Enforce the laws against employing illegals and the illegals cannot work and will leave in mass.
Hell, yes.
y + n
12 millllion or more people in an already crowded criminal justice system seems a bad idea; assuming you wanted to devote resources to looking for illegals instead of trying to cope with more sever criminal acts.
no
What's the alternative? Letting illegals keep coming here? So, yes, they should be allowed to. It's a sad state of affairs when law enforcement can't enforce laws.
Yes, we need to use every resource we have to enforce our laws to remove illegals, which are criminals that should not be here!!
Yes and if discrimination happens, it just one more reason ,
why we should enforce our Borders.
They should be required to enforce the law. It is their duty to enforce the law, including immigration laws.
Of course it would be worth their time. Discrimination? Yes against the Americans because every immigrant believes they can come to our country and live off us hard working Americans tax dollars. Then we'll have to learn to speak latino and thats discrimination, I think.
They are police they should enforce all laws of their respective municipality and it is against federal law to come to the US illegally so that covers every municipality in the US.
Yes. They should be allowed. I've been pulled over leaving a bar and the police asked me to take a breath test (I passed). They didn't see me drinking or even leaving the bar but they had reasonable suspicion to do so. However, protocol should be set in place for the practice of asking for "documentation" as we don't want draconian measures taken against those who are here legally.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS... Seems strange that law enforcement won't or can't enforce our laws,That's why we had 911 afraid of of law suites. Profiling is there another way? They can't even ask if there here legally when stopped for anything???What a mess.well if the shamnesty bill passes than we won't have to worry about illegals there won't be any there forgiven for there crimes an made legal.Wonder if we can do this>
Inforcing Immigration has nothing to do with discrimination against latinos. It has to do with people being here illegally, you know, against the law, and inforcing those laws.
YES, the police should be involved in inforcing laws, isn't that what police are susposed to do?
They should have been for awhile now. The only reason that they do not is because it just doesn't make them money, it is more profitable to give out tickets, fees, fines, etc.

Slack on anyone who works in laws part.
Yes, they should since there are laws. This is not racial profiling, this trying to enforce those laws. If officers are not allowed, that needs to change and go in the bill too.

The guy gave the officer an international driver's license! The officer is going to want to know then where is documentation is in case he is illegal. If he's been here for 10 yrs where's his U.S license?

I was pulled over in Germany, and when I gave them my U.S driver's license I was asked if I had any other documentation for being there legal.

Is that discrimination too? I think not.
I think that local law enforcement should to some degree try and enforce these laws. however that means the feds should help or to fully control the situation.
never try only to enforced them
What difference would it make ?? LEGAL OR NOT that is the question.
No, I don't think they should. They should dedicate themselves to solve serious crimes and leave immigration to the the federal authorities who are in charge of immigration.
