Why do we have all these months for different heritages but none for white people.?

I know that for some Whites it may not be easy to digest, but the reality is that we, as a country, celebrate "whiteness" almost everyday.
Try flipping through the televesion channels one day and you'll see that 99 percent of the channels featutre White faces talking about "White" things.
Take a look at your son, daughter, neice or nephews' history books and you'll see that 99 percent of the history that we learn is not only America's history, but "White" America's history.
Really though, as an American (notice that I didn't say Afican-American or any other hyphenated-American), I think that we should eliminate all of the "history" month's from the calenders because it has been watered down too much and doesn't have the same significance as it used to. The Congressional Black, Asian, and Hispanic Caucuses; the seperate award shows; the seperate "Miss America" shows; it is created and America that is "seperate, but equal" and Blacks fought tooth and nail to get rid of this.

I've always wondered that too!..and how come it is they have an all black beauty pageant and not an all white. I'm far from being racist..i was just wondering.

It is assumed that Caucasians don't require special recognition because everything is pro-Caucasian to begin with. Similarly, people ask why there is a Miss Black America contest without there being a Miss White America Contest - or BET television, without a WET television...
People ask why Gays and Lesbians need "special rights" and "Gay Pride Day" (without there being a Straight Pride Day, etc.
All of this is because the majority is favored every single day and the rest of us have to make something a little different to make the world aware that we're special too.

No offense or anything to any color I love everybody, but how it goes is if another color says something to a white person, its funny, but if a white person says something to ANYONE its racist... just like everybody else can have your ''holidays'' or ''months'' but if they tried to do it for white people, it would be racist, just like you have minority scholarships, if they tried to do an all white scholarship (which they have) it would be considered racist (which it was) .. honestly i don't think we need a heritage month to answer your question though - and i expect to get a lot of thumbs down

its the same thing with anything.. like tv for instance..if there was a WET (white entertainment television) holy crap i wouldnt even wanna see the riots over that...but BET (black entertainment television) is cool...
its just seen by most people that white people all ready control the majority of television..so its already white entertainment..

Son every month is my month. I dont need a special set aside month to be happy and proud of who I am. Every time you use the Internet,drive a car,use a phone and so on and on you are celebrating your heritage . We invented 90 % of what makes this nation great . Enjoy it and stand up tall. Its got nothing to do with racism its simply the truth and I am not against any other race or color of people. But Im not ashamed of being white either. Tell me just what do I have to be jealous of about any other people. Nothing at all.

I am secure in myself not to want or need a day to celebrate myself. My day is Christmas,Thanksgiving(for all I have) Easter,Forth of July, Haloween (for fun) Veterans day and memorial day,

I wish I had the answer but I sure don't.
The only thing I can think of is USA is a melting pot of nationalities and immigrants They want to come to America for our way of life but are not able to concede their origin.
It's like..."Hey...let's go to America so we can live off free welfare and health services. WE can get all kinds of free stuff without working."

Every day is white history day in American schools. Most of what we teach our children are accomplishments done by a white person. We may have one small chapter on black history and the rest of the book is dedicated to white people.
We don't have month because we don't whine enough. If we cried and segregated ourselves like the blacks or illegal mexicans, I'll bet WE could get a month of our own, too.
Oh, wait. If we did that, we'd have all of California crying racism, all of the OTHER ethnic groups crying racism, and everyone who's a liberal crying racism. Nevermind that we helped make history here.

maybe if whites lived in Africa or Mexico we would have probably have white history month there. but it really doesn't bother me because we still run the US all the major business's and 87% of the house and senate (although i do think that obama dude will be the next president ... but hey he's half white)

Actually, I think all of those "racial" month are prejudicial in nature. I actually would vote for doing none. I believe they promote the difference more than the fact we are all people.
Yes - white people has done many great things too, but when you are a majority in a country, every accomplishments are assumed to be done by the majority unless mentioned otherwise. No special mentions are necessary.
I've never heard of Asian months. when is it, and do you realize, most Asians do not like to be grouped as Asians? Many prefers to be called by their nation, and even more prefers not being called by any nation at all.
Because it would be considered racist to celebrate Alexander Graham Bell, Thomas Edison, Guglielmo Marconi, Jonas Salk, and all the others who have made contributions to America.

while 'Whites' are a "Race" of people ..
1) African-Americans are an 'Ethnic' group

Italian-American heritage month
2) Hispanics are a 'Cultural' group
3) Women are a 'Gender' group
etc. and so on ...
In other words -- my dear -- these groups are
*not*individual 'Racial' groups (while, 'White
/ Caucasian' is an 'Racial group) AND, let's not
forget the fact that many 'White' people tend
to fit across the various "heritage" categories
(ex. White 'Women'; White 'Latinos', etc.).
Let's also be cognizant of the fact that throughout
the remaining (12) months out of the year -- many
different 'White' "heritages" are also celebrated
(ex. Irish-Heritage Month; St. Patrick's Day, etc.)
