Is the American pledge of allegiance wrong to recite?
Answer:
Of all the rights honored in America, my personal favorite to remind people of, and sadly, the one most rarely taken advantage of is illustrated by this well-versed phrase:
America, love it or leave it!
I pledge allegiance to the flag
Of the United States of America,
And to the republic for which it stands.
One nation, under God, indivisible,
With liberty and justice for all.
The Pledge of Allegiance, stupid? My friend, you obviously are one of the countless free-loaders who have put nothing into this country - you have only taken what you could and complained about what you couldn't. That flag that I pledge my allegiance to is a symbol of all the sacrifice of Americans since the dawn of the United States. I'll warn you: calling it stupid around the wrong person will earn you a thorough jack-slapping!
Speaking of "In God we trust" printed on the money. I have NEVER heard of anyone refusing to take money because it says the word "God" on it. It also says "United States of America" on it, but still no refusals to accept. The hypocrisy goes on and on...
Why bother. It's better to get a copy of the Constitution and Bill of Rights and study it quietly
there is nothing wrong with showing your patrotism or love for your country
Well they dont have our freedom of speech until they become a citizen. School students have a choice to recite it or not. THis is legally speaking, I have no moral stance on it.
Because it's this political bull crap that because not every1 believes in God they don't think they should say "one nation under god." However our founding fathers based America on the religeon of Christianity, and nobody is forced to say it.
When has the pledge be forbidden in schools?
When was the pledge of allegiance banned in schools?
You poor ignorant child.
You really don't understand, do you.
I guess it would be wrong if your not an American , I think we have a whole bunch of people that need a boot up their *** and sent to another country.
I don't think public schools forbid it. They just can't compell kids to say it if they object for religious reasons. We happen to think no religion should be enforced on others, so we each have the liberty of following our own.
The pledge of allegience is stupid and superficial. I hated giving my time to it and i never meant it, ever. So I don't care what anyone does about it as long as they don't force anyone to say it. Then its PERSONAL.
not really. if u wanna recite it u can.
the pledge of allegiance cant be encouraged in public schools by the staff becuase the governemnt runs the schools, and seperation of church and state along with a (1st?) amendment states that the gov. cant respect or single out 1 religion while leaving others by the wayside. so making people recite the pledge of allegiance is technically unconstitutional.
Hi, I can still remember saying the pledge of allegiance in elementary school. I don't see why anyone would forbid the pledge of allegiance.Your just showing your respect and love for our country. What happen to the freedom of speech, freedom of our country?
poppy1
You want to live in America ? then learn it ... We are an open country .. for ALL people to prat ice there own beliefs .. but when it comes down to it we are Americans one and ALL ! I personally believe that it should be said in every school .. and taught to everyone .. as far as praying goes .. we all do it in our own ways .. there should be no ban .. this is a question that will will open a flood gate of answers...
the reason it's stopped in some class rooms is because of the illegals who are here. if they want our money then they can recite our pledge. the school my kids go to still pledge allegiance to the American flag. if they don't like it then they need to get the f out of this country. GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!
oh boy! this country was founded on Christian principles and approximately 75% of it's population remains Christian so the "tradition" of reciting the pledge of allegiance remains just as the slogan "in God we trust" printed on our currency.
this means that no, the government will not compel you to believe in a certain religion or a Christian faith BUT the traditions remain. hope you can see the difference.
the pledge of allegiance is geared more towards allegiance to the country and the flag, not to God or a religion. the words say "one country, under God" merely describing that the country is under God... not that the person reciting it is pledging his/her allegiance to God.
oh, and no, it has not been banned in schools.
God has nothing to do with the original Pledge of Allegiance to the American flag, or to what Americans were pledging their allegiance to. President Eisenhower is responsible for the "under God" phrase being injected into the Pledge of Allegiance.
Early Americans were religious; many intolerant of those who did not have the same religious beliefs as theirs; but, their desire for "individual rights" and the promise that they would have "religious" freedom, was the impetus to fight for that freedom. Today, citizens of the U.S. have no "rights" or "freedoms", thanks to past presidents and decisions made by past and present Supreme Court Justices.
As a retired public school; teacher, who now substitutes in a large metropolitan school district, I can attest to the fact that only two percent of the students in any homeroom "pedge allegiance " to the American Flag. During the "moment of silence" most schools announce, at least three-fourths of each class I have ever substituted in are talking about last night's ballgame, their boyfriend/girlfriend, throwing spit-wads, asking what's for lunch, etc. etc. Today's students are gauche; having no respect for anyone; not even themselves!
NO! It is the beauracracy that put that BULLSHIT into effect.. there is a separation of church and state that the 'LIBERAL' right imposed years ago.. which in my stable mind is "horse-hockey". I believe in the pledge of allegiance to be sound ! if you donot agree? well then .. every bit of currency that you spend.. (in US) has "IN GOD WE TRUST" on it.. also on that piece of metal or paper that is in your pocket or wallet has the words "E-Pluribus-Unum" which means literally 'Of many ONE" all sorts come to this country to find a NEW beginning.. Lately my belief is that 'immigrants' think they are OWED an occupation or livelyhood.. that goes against my reasoning..EARN YOUR PLACE. or GET OUT!
I Pledge Allegiance,
to the Flag,
of the United States of America.
(means you are SWORN to UPHOLD and PROTECT the laws of these UNITED STATES..)
And to the REPUBLIC, for which IT STANDS.
ONE NATION,UNDER GOD,
INDIVISIBLE,With LIBERTY and JUSTICE FOR ALL>>
Wow...I guess small town U.S.A. is really different than where most of you are. Here, students recite the Pledge of Allegiance unless they have a legitimate religious objection. Members of the sports teams pray before their games. Prayer is still said at the beginning of graduation ceremonies. School choirs can sing religious songs, and bands can play it, for a school audience. Some school concerts even feature songs from several different religious groups in one show. Students still memorize the Preamble to the Constitution, have religious study groups on their lunch break, and creation is taught alongside evolution in science class.
My kids even spent their elementary school years reciting the school's mission statement every morning. I'm still not sure why they did that, though.
