Do you have what it takes...?

...to be a citizen? most people trying to get into this country legally, but they have to take a citizenships test first.

so do us americans know the answers to this test? we should, otherwise, that means every (legal) immigrant in this country knows america better than americans!

here is the link to a hypothetical but accurate citizenship test:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19552808/...

immigrants must make 80% to become naturalized, most americans don't even make any higher than 60%

Answer:
It is funny Sergio how many people just by reading your question automatically assume that you are not an American. I can't believe some of the answers you receive. I will be honest with you, I could not answer all of them correctly. I am an American and proud to be. Alot of people take the fact that they were born here for granted. I guess the ones who passed the test are not so smart making accusations about you before they knew the truth, funny they tend to do alot of that. Some people can be such burros, but of course they would never admit to that now would they.
I scored 100% without cheating. I guess I get to stay.

The guy above me doesn't make any sense. Why would he want to lay down his life for a country that he doesn't even understand? I love being American and I actually care about this country's history and political system. I don't think I should have to know these things to be a citizen, but I don't get why anyone wouldn't want to know these things.
no i cant answer most of them!
I got an 80%
Woo!
I took it and got 100 percent correct answers. I guess that makes me eligible, beyond being born in the U.S.

I was a little surprised that I got them all, as I did have to make a couple of very educated guesses.
The point is that very few Americans know about matters outside their county or state. I was seeing a Jay Leno show before the 4th july. Quite a few people did not know who America got independence from. This is a sorry state of affairs and speaks volumes about the knowledge base of an Average Amercian. Fortunately there are quite a few Americans who are well versed in matters that count but they are a minority. That is why the immigrants are doing so well in US.
I got only two wrong, and one of them was about some naturalization form that a person born in AMerica has no need to actually know.

Truthfully, College graduates would do poorly on this test.
I think we are testing the wrong things on the test for citizenship. We should test concepts that ensure that those who want to be a citizen know what is expected of them. THey should not learn history but the principle of what makes up America. Frankly knowing who was our first President doesn't ensure we get a good citizen.
Would you want an immigrant to be naturalized that received a 20% score on the test?

I wouldn't.

It's a bit of a double standard, but you can blame our education system for that.

It doesn't change the fact that immigrants should be loyal to this country if they want to be here. And they should be happy to do so because they are seeking a better life for themselves, and we can provide that for them.

EDIT:

I took the little test, and got an 87%. It's a fair test.
I got a 95%. Although the link didn't explain which one I got wrong, I am assuming that I got number 19 wrong, which was the only one I took a random guess at. I would find it hard to believe that many Americans who already were born citizens would know how to apply for citizenship.

Although many of those questions were quite easy, I think that a few of them were too hard.
90%

Got the amendment involving voting rights wrong, and the form for naturalizion (which practically no US born citizen would know).
This is a naturalization test. Not a test to come here. I would pass with flying colors if I had several years to study.

We all have tests we have to pass, even if we are born here. They have to do a little more work to come here and stay, but if they want to be here so bad, they will do it.
Sergio,
You are grasping at straws... The simple truth is; I can be either proud (or not) of my for-fathers. They however, are "My" for-fathers...This gives me the inaliable rights of a US citizen. Others are welcome...They may not have the benefit of the customs and freedoms that my forfathers granted, so they must learn some form of U.S. history. Those from the U.S.A. by birth may not learn the same points and details... but they know many other (and more in-depth)details of our society and history. A legal immigrant is not only welcome, but a valuable member of this society. Proper immigration is fine- what (illegal southern border) "criminals" (or should be crimilnals) are doing to my homeland is worthy of my wrath... U.S. STAND

I STAND
70% I was disappointed

But remembering I was educated in the UK, and live in Canada,
not too bad
I wonder how Americans would do on a test in a foreign country
Definitely, was a poli-sci major in college.
Interesting. I got a 95%. I missed the one about the only amendmet that says nothing about voting rights.
90%, but no I don't think these questions have anything to do with our immigration problems.
I missed 3. Yes, shame on me.I agree.
As you can see, everyone here passed the test.
I was born here legally, all my family was, and my ancestors came here legally. THAT my friend makes me a LEGAL AMERICAN.
If you don't like us, then GO AWAY.
******************************...
WHere are you facts? I am willing to bet you only stated your opinion. Thereis NO proof in what you said
85%, guess that means this U.S. citizen born to U.S. citizens stays.
I need to brush up on the finer points of the constitution.
