Is it legal to put on advertising that you are offering services from a "British" qualified tradesman
Answer:
Its hard to say these days as the Commission for Racial Equality seems so quick to use the race card. Remember negative publicity, ie: an accusation of racism could hurt your business as much as good publicity could benefit your business. Unfortunately that is the double-edged sword of Political Correctness - a lot of power is held in the hands of a tiny minority and we seem so quick to not offend these days. If I were you I would use a British flag as part of your adrvertisment and emphasise your British qualifications. Also, if you have an anglo-saxon name, eg: Smith, Jones, Fortesque-Smyth, etc. you might want to embolden that on your ad to show off your ethnicity which would indicate to potential clients that you are more likely to be trustworthy, reliable and not illegal. Good luck!
Can't see why it would be racist. If I saw your ad saying you were Qualified to British Standards I'd assume you weren't Eastern European and use you. Corgi registered gas fitters advertise the fact so go ahead.
it is racist don't try!
I don't think it is ilegal or racist, it's stating the fact that u are a british tradesman with full insurance & qualifications.
I think it is a good idea as to many people are being ripped off, especially the elderly.
Good for you
No you are not being racist you are telling people what they are getting before they contact you, I hope all British traders follow your lead.
No doubt if this was to happen a law would be brought out saying it is illegal to say you are British when competing for tenders.
Why dont you put your trade qualifications if you have them?I would employ a gas fitter for instance because he was gorgi qualified if I read your advert I would think uneducated bigot and look elsewhere. This is not an insult its just how it reads.
