I have been researching the british visa system and it's way too complex. it looks like the only way an american can get an immediate work visa is to enter the uk with as a student. but then you're only allowd to work 20 hrs per week while schol is in session and then full time son school holidays. the visa is renewable annually .. but there has got to be better way to get into te country legally and work. maybe maraige to a brit is an instant visa?

As a woman and a `Brit` i wouldnt suggest marrige as an option. Dont lower yourself.Our visa laws are not unlike yours,if you come on a tourist visa its valid for 6 months .( it used to be 3 ) then that will give you loads of time to find jobs accommadation open accounts get schools sorted for children if you have any,then when you have done what you came to do apply for a change in circumstances, . Thats about it hun ,good luck x
