Nice to know that they are looking after the foriegners. I was born in this country and I can't even afford a house of my own because of the bloody stupid prices in this country!
My niece has been over 15 years on the waiting list and every time a house is available an alien jumps in front of her. Why can't our own be helped first, no wonder we have become the cesspit of the world. I hope Brown slams the door shut and to hell with the EU.

Lets be clear - they are not building Council houses! They will be private homes which anyone can buy and let out if they wish. Contrary to popular belief, asylum seekers are not given Council houses (they have no recourse to public fund whatsoever) and refugees take their place on the Council housing lists along with everyone else.
Homes are expensive in this country because of restricted planning laws and there is a shortage of Council houses as the Tories sold them all off!
Every country should take care of their own citizens first.After that then they can help strangers.

New housing is required mainly because people are living in smaller households than before, many family houses are occupied by just one person, this is the main cause of pressure on housing. Immigration is also a factor, but much less important when you remember that almost as many people are moving abroad as are coming here.
On the matter of building on floodplains, you are absolutely right, the government has allowed private developers to make loads of money building on land that should be kept free. One problem is that people who can afford to prefer to live in low-density suburbs rather than urban areas.
Like the government think that far ahead ... If they did we wouldn't have this major immigration issue. Accommodate illegal family? Am I hearing this right ... send them back home if they're not legal! What are the government taking, some hallucinergenic pills supplied by a backstreet dealer? They all needs their heads bashing together (or blown off)
Houses are built, but not given. Someone still either (a) has to legitimately qualify for benefits or (b) buy one to live in it.
If it's (a) then they're a legal immigrant, so stop your whining. If it's (b), then they're pumping at least £150k at today's prices into the enconomy, so stop your whining.

Get your facts straight moron. The government would NOT house illegal immigrants anywhere other than removal centres (prisons) you obviously do not know the difference between an illegal immigrant, refugee, asylum seeker and economic migrant so let me tell you:
ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT
Somebody who has come to the country and not declared themselves to immigration, they have gone underground.
REFUGEE
someone who has been granted leave to remain by the government as they are not safe to return.
ASYLUM SEEKER
someone who is waiting to hear about an asylum application, these people are legally allowed to stay in the UK until their case is decided.
ECONOMIC MIGRANT
Someone who has come to the country for work

Unfortunately a lot of the asylum seekers,refugees,economic migrants etc. automatically jump right up the Council waiting lists because,if they don't have loads of kids when they arrive,they make sure as Hell to have loads in as short a time as possible when they are here.When did you last see an immigrant woman over the age of 21 with only one child?It means they get more money too,of course,without feeling the need to work.
we have a duty to house these people,give them good healthcare and jobs and schools for their children,dont forget they have family and homes in their own countries and that costs them a lot sending money home,we must not complain because everyone will call us racist,i hope they dont all drown on these marshes where you say they will live,that would be terrible,i do my part i pay taxes which helps them.

Why are they getting houses when I was born here and can't even get on the property ladder? Oh well If it is on reclaimed marshland, ring it all off with a massive fence, let them move in, lock the gates and prey for heavy rain!
