This case of TB is a perfect example WHY we need to keep our borders secure. TB and Hepatitis and measles has drastically increased over the past decade. US citizens are immunized against most diseases as children, but 3rd world countries typically have no programs. This is going to cause the introduction of new drug resistant diseases that will cause an epidemic.
I never listen to Rivera. Everything he has ever said is crap.

I of course disagree with him and agree with you. I think all illegal need to go thro the same process you and your wife did. It is not that no one wants them here.. they are welcome here.. but they should have to do it legally.
We preach the right and wrong way of things and now suddenly our government wants to take what was once illegal and give amnesty for it. that is wrong, it will only encourage more and more to do the same thing. Where does it stop.
Our government, both sides of the aisle are way out to lunch on this.. both of them hoping for nothing more than more votes eventually and all of them condoning low wages and practically slave labour. I thought we were way past that. if this is allowed the Mexicans will be no better off here than in Mexico.. and just what image does that show the world about America.

I agree as a naturalized citizen I know the painstaking process it entails and the fines need to be just as high for this whole deal thy are working on.
As for the border control, there is still not telling who they let into the country, there is no way of knowing if someone has a communicable disease when applying for the US visa, get on a plane to the states and go about their business, some people don't even know they have it still they get sick. People still arrive here daily with all kinds of illness.
This TB guy was sick and the government dropped the ball again, health officials, border patrol.

I didn't hear that but he is right. So its okay for citizens to spread dangerous diseases but if an illegal did it, everyone would be mad and use that as a reason for us to be kicked out? He should be kicked out.

who is geraldo rivera?? Is he the guy with the thick twirled moustach like the 18th century tough guys or rough guys wore to show their superiority. Anyway, on the subject of Immigration, this thing about "make them all legal", they have been taking wages under the table, no questions asked and now they are rewarded being allowed to stay. But... this is not right, Laws were made as a JOKE? There should be laws that would bring all these illegal aliens under laws to fill out application forms and go through the same process as all the qualified, educated and experienced people who have been waiting their turn waiting in line for many years. These illegal aliens are being given preferential treatment and allowed to jump the queue . This T.B guy is being sensationalized to spread fear. The real fear is when these ilegal guys enter the country they could be carrying many other types of diseases if not suffering could be carriers and once in this country could be spreading it far and wide, most diseases are contagious when coming from non-western countries. So, USA is not only getting cheap workers but free diseases. So, the illegals should be given Medical exams to check their health status and treat them in hospital. It is true they do not have Medical Insurance. This is lot of rubbish, not treating people who do not have Medical Insurance, endangering the lives of the public at large. In Europe, anyone can go to hosptal and ask for treatment. When people like heraldo become popular and famous, they believe they are in a position of power and mouth anything and the public will believe them, thinking the general public are also mostly uneducated and illiterate.

I don't listen to Geraldo Rivera since I sat for an hour waiting for him to open Al Capone's secret vault, and it was empty.
I honestly don't know what the answer to the problem of immigration could be? Anyone with any compassion at all feels sorry for people so desperate they are willing to risk their lives to try to support their families.
On the other hand, Americans want to hang onto their jobs and their benefits and cannot afford to support millions of people, with no guarantee that they will stop arriving.
They feel that politicians want Amnesty for Latinos because they foresee a magnificent, huge voting bloc. Americans feel that this is wrong, and that Illegals should enter the country legally or not at all!
Remember, they aren't the only ones. I don't know what our Immigration Department has been doing these past years, but there are thousands and thousands of people here on expired visas, and no one knows where they are or what they are doing. Many of them are working, have married, and have children.
I have thought that perhaps the solution might be to make Mexico a state, with the same laws, the same salaries, the same government as any other state. But there seems to be no way of doing this, with its own president, its own leaders, its own way of life.
As it is, the flood of Immigrants just isn't right. They are, after all, illegal. If I could give each and every one of them a prosperous and happy life, I would. But I don't want to sacrifice our own lives here in the United States to make this happen.
