Should illegal immigrant children who complete HS be given citizinship?

By completing H.S. they have assimilated into "American" society.
They have studied U.S. history and can be a functioning member of this country.
Most of these children were infants and toddlers when they entered this country, so as far as they are concerned this is their home country.

Good question!
Most students can speak english by elementry school, so I say yes. I think they should atleast be given a chance to get their citizenship.
I think there should be other factors as well, but it's a start.
ABSOLUTELY
That is a good idea because the same stuff they learn in high school is on the citizen test. I'm all for it.
As long as they are loyal productive citizens dedicated to the core values of this country.
No they shouldn't. For starters, completing high school does not mean they have assimilated into American society. There are some students who go through school and by the 12th grade they still don't even speak fluent English.

Also, there are other requirements for becoming a US citizen besides completing the citizenship test. It would be silly to grant citizenship based on that one factor.

I do feel sympathy for these kids who were brought here by their parents and feel that this is their home country, but it is their parents' fault if these kids get deported.
No. If there parents are illegal, they should have no right to become legal whether they were born in the US or not. Most countries of the world don“t allow you to have citizenship unless either of your parents are citizens, so why should the US be the exception to the rule?
Not until they have passed the citizenship test. Can _you_ pass it?

Why, so it will become bait for the rest of foreigners and come here illegally. What about the conduct of this teens, their families, etc. Do you know that the majority of them are gang members in the big cities, what about with these teens and their families what do you suggest.
No, then if an international student completes his degree he/she should be also given citizenship.
Obtaining USA citizenship is more than just finishing HS, how many criminals have finished HS and learn US history and then continue their criminal lives.
Moreover, if the child is the offspring of an illegal alien, parents and children must be deported.
Illegals are criminals.
No. These are called anchor babies and the problem is too many people come here just to have babies so they can stay. There have been many high profile cases about this (the woman holed up in a Chicago church being one of the most recent, as well as the south american couple that came to US on vacation specifically during the ninth month of the wife's pregnancy).

I say no because if these people really have a valid reason for coming here they can ask for political asylum or sanctuary from persecution in their country of origin. It's a fact, a Mexican who was gay requested asylum in US from persecution and the legal system let him be a citizen.

The reason anchor babies are a problem is not the baby, it's the parents. The parents have the baby here and they stay without applying for status and without adopting our culture. The kids in the schools in LA that are children of illegals have parents that don't speak english and don't assimilate. They kids can't get far because their parents can't help them learn and study so the textbooks are unread or worse yet sold because they do not appreciate the value of the books and think the school just gives them away because they don't understand. That's also why they go to the emergency room for health care, they don't understand it closes hospitals and the drain not being part of the system puts on society. They don't understand what it means to be a civilized nation. Civilization is only as vast as cooperation and if enough people ignore the law or systems in place that have been set up to handle such things in balance with society then you have a degradation of society. In short, it brings the third world country here. That's why there's an immigration process throttling the flux of people becoming citizens and living here and the impact it has on society as a whole. As we;ve seen when it's not throttled the effects can be devastating. Just look at the hospital closures and quality of education in California.

Simply put No, it's a slippery slope.
No. Such logic means that if my parents were to rob banks of millions of dollars and put all that money into some account in my name, that I would be entitled to that money because I am not to blame for my parents illegal behavior. ALL illegals should be repatriated. Give them a year or so to settle their finances here, then they get to go home. We won't charge them for the education they got here illegally, but we don't want them to stay. Doing so will only encourage more illegal immigration.
hell no, why give illegals and there offspring anything for breaking the law. if i walk down the street and take money out of hard working american you would have me arrested, what the hell do you think an illegal immegrant does.
it would be unfair if an 18-year old gets deported to an environment he/she never grew up in.
According to the laws on the books, if their parents are law-abiding citizens who are friendly to US citizens and have come into the country legally, then yes. Otherwise, no.

"Children born to aliens who are lawfully inside the United States (resident or visitor), with the intention of amicably interacting with its people and obeying its laws" are considered citizens.

You asked about Canadians - this law applies to everyone regardless of race, creed, country of origin, religion, etc.
No
sure, but only if the US citizens who dont finish high school get deported also. i say take all the bad apples...
No because in my eyes they are still illegal.
By completing HS, they have assimilated into American society???????? How is that?????

It might be true that children were young when they entered the US, but didn't they and their families have ENOUGH TIME to become US Citizens since then??????????????????????????...
no illegal means illegal and ma bey instead of sending them back we should round up all illegals and make them work off the debt that they have produced to our government, our hospitals, our schools, our law enforcement, etc and to the people whom like myself can't find a job and we also need to fine the employers of illegals and close down their business and fine them and make the business owners work side by side with the illegals to pay off their debt to not paying taxes on these people. I know my town could use some litter pickup and I need to be paid back for lost wages and lost jobs due to illegals (notice I say illegals not a race so it is not racist) leave my country or be a slave to it or enter properly
NO, they are STILL illegal!!!!

If a BANK ROBBER completes HS, should we NOT have him arrested?? He still committed a CRIME!!!
A Criminal, is STILL a criminal!!!
