Citizens, how many of your ancestors from Europe entered this country illegally?
Answer:
Mine came legally on a boat. They were from Czechoslavakia. I still have my grandfathers citizenship papers framed and mounted on the wall in my study. He was quite proud of them and I am as well.
Not mine. Some came with the original Pennsylvania Dutch and the latest came through Ellis Island. Both by boat, I should think.
Angela, some of us can track our ancestors. Clearly, it depends on where they lived and what sort of records were kept there.
And how can you possibly know that?? Most people can't trace there original ancestors.. Perhaps your ancestors sneaked over in a boat, then that would make you an anchor baby..?
Ridiculous argument, NO European ever came illegally, yeah right..
I've seen this post before and I highly doubt that it could be said that over 5% of the immigrants in this country
(other than the illegals from Mexico)
came here illegally
so answer is less than 5%
I am not in this category but I know most of my friends are and my husband. There was no such thing as illegal 100 years ago, that is because people came here openly, reported themselfves to the authorities, and the flux of immigrants was not so crazy high, and certainly not from just one contry mainly. There was equality, all the cultures came here to work ( not reap the welfare, healthcare bnfts) . So in short, total different story back then, and really every country reaches a point where they are self sustained ( like many european countries) and the Immigration ( legal) needs to be limited to certain areas of need.
When my ancestors came here from Europe the Indians didn't have border security or even immigration laws - at least not ones the "could" enforce. Maybe the same thing will happen to us American's that happen to those Indians...sounds kind of like the exact same circumstances to me.
None
None. Both by boat and landed in New York.
I've been working on my family tree for years. None of my ancestors came illegally. I have their documentation of the ship they sailed on and also the documentation for when they entered the country. Most came in through the port in Philadelphia.
None of them, we've been here since before the U.S. became a country. And, I might add, have followed the laws given by this country and never asked for anthing other than our rights as American citizens. Thank you for asking.
None. They went through Ellis Island like they should have. Thanks for asking.
ALL entered legally, by ship or airplane. That includes myself.
None of my ancestors came to this country illegally! They came by boat across the Atlantic Ocean, and they knew that they would never see their families again. They conquered the Indians, the French, the Spanish, the British, the Mexicans, they won the Civil War, and they created the best country in the world. Unfortunately, this country is going to hell because of the influx of so many millions of immigrants from non-European countries who refuse to assimilate and learn the English language.
Diversity is a weakness, not a strength.
