Have you forgotten about?

"Give us your tired, your poor, your hungry"?

Maybe we should take that part of the statue off.

Answer:
Have you forotten that this is not an issue about immigration but, about illegal immigration. I would not care if there were 12 million legal immigrants here which I am sure there are more than that and I am happy for them. I do care about the ones who sneak in and take from the system that was set up for the citizens of this country.
No, we haven't forgotten. Just do it legally. Those who came through Ellis Island were sent home if they sneezed. What do you think would happen if we just threw open the borders? Chaos. No one is trying to deport all the immigrants. Just those that came here illegally.
I do not know what you're are talking about.
We have a legal process, one that is more lenient than most countries. The tired, the poor, and the hungry now refers to our taxpayers. Immigration is welcomed and encouraged as long as you follow the legal process.
I didn't have a clue what this was from until I read the other comments.

We have our own tired and poor and hungry, and then illegal immigrants come in and work under the table, not having to pay taxes that the working people of the US have to foot the bill for. And then on top of that, they're still allowed to use our Medicaid/DSHS when our own citizens can't even get monetary assistance for medicine and food. The elderly who have paid their dues and worked for their entire lives within the system are too old and sickly to work, live in filth and poverty because they don't get social security benefits, or if they do it's not enough to even have 3 meals a day, let alone to heat their houses, and they get NOTHING in a way of assistance because there's not enough money to go around. But they seem to find lots of money for illegal immigrants and their 10 children to have DSHS benefits and food stamps. It's repulsive and sickening.
Have you forgotten the rule of law? Maybe we should just throw out the constitution?
You know, we probably wouldn't consider this an invasion of more of the immigrants were LAW ABIDING, skilled people who in some way contributed to the betterment of this country.
Nope, absolutely not. Please stop watching liberal television and other forms of the left-leaning press.
It is beneficial to our U.S. economy to have a certain level of immigration. The problem is, those who are here illegally (undocumented workers if that is the term you are more comfortable with, but they are illegal). Since they are here illegally, they do not contribute to our society as they should (pay taxes, contribute to social security, property taxes). There are those who do, but they are a small fraction. They receive free emergency medical, are tougher to enforce laws on due to blackmarket driver's license #'s, social security cards (i.e. if they get a suspended license, they go buy another one) and in many cities which are called sanctuary cities, if an illegal immigrant is discovered, i.e. traffic stop, workforce raid or a random tip, they can't be arrested, deported or even receive a slap on the wrist and if the officer attempts any sort of detainment, they are suspended (a.k.a. rendered inneffective when it comes to doing their jobs which is to protect and to serve citizens). In essence they hold special (and illegal) priveledges over citizens.

Don't get me wrong, I feel a certain amount of pity for these people. The countries from where many (note I didn't say all) of them come are Mexico and countries from S. America which are generally very corrupt, dictatorships over-run by cartels and an oppressive governments, and the citizens are so weak that they can't overthrow the govt, because of lack of money and organization which, in turn can be pointed at poor education and oppressive liberal governments.
I don't know how old you are, but please read about this topic (illegal immigration in the U.S.)
It does NOT say, "Give us your criminals". Many illegal aliens were drug dealers, murders, rapists, or smugglers, etc, before committing criminal entry into the U.S.
I wish they would. There are enough tired, poor, and hungry in the U.S. already without adding to it. Who does for them?

That is only a poem by Emma Lazarus, Poet of the Huddled Masses

When are you tools going to learn the difference between legal and illegally entering our, or any other country? Show me one country who allow anarchy at their borders. By that I mean countries that people are coming to, not the ones their running away from. Why do you think that these laws we have simply don't apply to today's immigrants? Do they think their above the law like a bunch of broke @ss Paris Hiltons? There's a right way, and a wrong way of doing things. If you do things the wrong way, accept the consequences, even if it's deportation.
no we haven't, not at all...we're all here, we're tired, underpaid and can't afford the high food prices anymore.
