Applying for US citizenship?
Answer:
3 years. The waiting period is shorter when one's application for a US citizenship is based on marriage to a US citizen.
PLUS, because the processing of a citizenship application takes a very long time (years, really), you are allowed to file a few months before you actually become eligible. I know that in the case of qualifying after a 5-year residency, you are allowed to file when you've actually had your green card for 4.5 years. I assume the buffer period in your case would be the same, but I don't know for a fact. Call the Immigration general info line to double-check.
