For multiple entry schengen visa, what do the number of days indicated there refer to?

Does it refer to the number of days allowed per entry/visit or the cumulative number of days within the validity period of the visa? Let us say your visa is valid from 1 June 2007 to 31 May 2008 and it allows multiple entries for 90 days, does the 90 days mean that you can come-in for an unlimited number of times within the validity period each for 90 days or that all your visits combined within that period should not exceed 90 days?

Answer:
Hello multiple entry visa is for people who are employee's of company's like airlines, if you have a one year visa just make sure you present it at immigration, if the expiration date is over 90 days, if it under that then get the 90 day stamp, but every time you depart and return your passport should be stamped with the date.
that is the only times you are allowed to enter
it means multiple entries in 90 days. Ultimately, the validity date is the date stamped on the I-94 card. If the officer only gives an expiration of 10 days, you must leave even if the visa is valid longer. the I-94 shows the actual status and how long you may stay. the visa is just a document to let you in, not determine how long you stay
