I think the pressure people are putting on their Legislators may be working. Everyone...and I mean EVERYONE needs to slam their Legislators with emails and phone calls regarding this bill.
I am a sympathetic citizen and I think it is very unfortunate. Another Republican stall tactic. If it kills the bill, oh well! Another year.
It's all about politics and gaining votes for the next election, they don't really care about the people.
When the congress fails to pass a bill because not an appropriate number of congressmen/women support it, I thought the bill was "dead". If something is dead, it isn't going to "come back to life" this term!
ANYONE WHO VOTES FOR THIS BILL NEEDS TO BE VOTED OUT OF OFFICE ASAP.
I think I will be voting against those that voted FOR this bill...which I am sure my two Senators will have done, both are democrats and from Washington State where we have big illegal alien numbers.
Because they understand their careers depend on it. I guess this goes to show that America is deciding for THEM for once what we think is important and what is not.
People are upset that the fence isn't being built.If this one goes down, it won't be until another two years to reform it.It isn't going to go down easily.I think they should scrap it and start over again.Oh gosh who wants to wait another two years and let it remain as the status quo? the politicians are all owned to big corporations. WHAT CAN WE AMERICANS DO? Maybe if all responsible citizens would get out and vote we might , I said MIGHT have an equal break along with the illegals.
Why wait longer? It's only going to make things worse if this bill doesn't pass.
The wall isn't even getting built yet .... no bill passing this year... what does that mean? More illegals will keep coming and the gov't won't do anything about it.
Sometimes I think I smell blood in the water, but honestly these Senators defy logic and never take the direction you think they will? Harry Reid did a 180 didn't he or was that just for show? Wonder what his agenda truly is...
I think some of the grumble from the American people is finally reaching the ears of our esteemed leaders, on both sides.
Reid tried to strong arm the Senate and lost. As I watch this so called debate, I failed to understand what's in this for the average American, time after the speak to the poor undocumented, ( they want to romanticize the illegals) and the only thing I have come up with is the bill.
I think the cloture vote failed because a lot of the Senators want to ensure their amendments are considered and don't want debate cut off prematurely. I don't think it means those who voted NOT to invoke cloture (i.e. voted against limiting further debate) necessarily want to see the bill ultimately fail.
Also, I wonder if Reed's strategy is to see who is really serious about getting his/her amendment considered. Not sure. He probably knew he didn't have the votes, so I'm wondering myself at the motivation to demand the vote.
