Letter from Home Office?
Answer:
You could try returning to your country of birth, wait twenty years and then wait twenty more and then apply.
It's difficult. As you have an outstanding application, your existing visa remains valid, but there is no simple way of establishing that to the satisfaction of third parties - and employers are now under strong pressure to ensure they don't employ anyone who doesn't have permission to work.
If you have a solicitor handling your case, he could wite a letter confirming your wife's extension application and that this does mean that you have permission to work. You could also approach your MP for help, which might at least push the Home Office into making the decision a bit quicker.
Otherwise, if your wife has recent correspondance from the Home Office, try showing that to your employer along with information form the Home Office which confirms that your existing leave remains valid while the aplication is being considered.
Good luck, and ignore the ignorant people your tax money is probably funding.
go back home you leach.
